F30 heating issue
All,
Has anyone come across issues with the heating in an f30 being unbearable to,work with, My scenario is as follows: 16 degrees freezing 16.5 degrees boiling hot! The car has gone into bmw twice under warranty they have had it for 4-5 days and the problem still continues after they have taken the dash out each time and they tell me it's solved' Then I can drive it for a bit and it seems to be ok, then for no apparent reason it reverts back to the two temps, freezing cold or boiling hot! Question, has anyone else experienced this before? Any help, greatly appreciated |

Not heard of this before tbh.
Another dealer booking required me thinks. Prior to lockdown with a good loan car, as they've already had a go & failed.

Get a free car from hertz! Did that last lockdown when they had it! Just hate the thought of this AGAIN! That's 12 days in total so far, heater motor replaced, heater sender unit replaced and still the same 27 bmw's and never had this one! |

Does appear it has a problem associated with temperature regulation, as set at 16C there will be no regulation, by design, will just keep cooling. Set at 16.5C and above, can mean there is heating (according to demand), definitely temperature regulation. Out of interest, does it behave differently in the 20 - 22C working range? Any fan speed changes when you know cabin is heating past say 22C, does the speed cut back? I assume you are in Auto mode. If not, any difference in Auto, say running mid intensity setting. |

As HighlandPete says, 16C just means 'as cold as possible' whereby 16.5C uses the car's thermostat(s).
It sounds like they've been pulling apart the heater matrix where the coolant flow is regulated. It could be a cabin thermostat issue instead - something which isn't usually behind the dash. Theyre usually in the footwell, but i cant check without the TIS to hand. Does your car have dual zone temperature control? What happens if you leave the left on 16 and right on 16.5 and vice versa? |

Yes it's dual zone, the 20-25 degree zone is unbearably hot! |
