Emissions

Just looked at something puzzling following paying the extortionate UK road tax at the highest rate (£220 for 6 months!!) All the BMW literature etc says that the 335i E92 emits slightly less than the top rate of 225g/Km - yet my registration doc says it's higher. I have one of the first out (bought December 2006) and does anyone know if the earlier models were worse on the emissions than the newer ones?
