Cigarette Charger Not Working
Picked this up from Amazon.
Plugged it in to multiple ports in my '18 340i and NOTHING. Figured it was DOA and exchanged for another unit. Same thing. Started digging through the reviews on Amazon and found that other BMW owners have the same issue. Why would this be, and how could we fix it? |

I actually had this with a charger I bought the other week. It didn't work in one of the sockets in my car, but it did work in a different one so I straight away jumped in and checked the fuse but it was fine. I then did what I should've done in the first place and plugged a different charger into it and it worked.
Luckily I had a spare BMW lighter socket spare in the pre-LCI cupholder trim that I'd taken out so I swapped them over and now it's all working fine. The old socket looked a little corroded at the bottom, presumably from where someone had spilt a drink in it or something but otherwise I couldn't really figure out why it didn't work with this one particular charger. However, if I pushed the charger down and held it down, it would then work. It just didn't seem to lock into place properly. |
