Unhappy Tamper proof license plate screws

Help please.

I've been looking for some tamper proof screws like these http://www.brycefastener.com/keyrex.htm but can't find a company that sells them in pieces. All the companies I have tried require a minimum order of 600-1000.

I've checked all the hardware stores including Lowe's, Home Depot, Kragen, Pep boys, etc.

I'm looking specifically for screws that require a key.

Thanks

McMaster-Carr has tamper resistant screws in bags as small as 25 or 50 depending on the size...

Those screws look very easy to unfasten without the key. Simply insert 2 small flathead drivers into each side. Job done.

I'd guess the type of person wanting to steal plates would have a pretty good idea.

Just get something like this, should be easier to find. Its what the local toll roads here send us to mount license plate transceivers. Should keep them away pretty well. Like they always say, if a thief really wants something, he is going to get it no matter what you do.

i just use a torx screw...most thieves will not have a torx on them at the time so it's cheap alternative.

I'd leave std screws in. If some sick idiot wants your license plate a few tamper proof screws screwed down in bits of plastic won't stop him, you'll only see more damage to you car.
