BMW Connected App
Just downloading an update to the connected app. The description on iTunes says that a calender function has been added. Might be neat. Will try it out on Saturday.

I just realized that you can pre-write your own posts. Meaning that you are not stuck with all the cheesy ones that come with the app.

Good stuff. Seems like BMW realizes the potential of the system and plan to make frequent and useful updates.
Hopefully Spotify and Rdio will be next. Wonder if we can have some sort of Google Maps overlay on the Nav ala Audi A7?

Excellent. This is exactly why this is a 'must have' option. Lots of potential for the future.
One would think, if you could tap into the accelerometer and gps of the iPhone you could have a pretty cool track telemetry app displayed on the nav screen. |

I can see the BMW Apps part (facespace, tweeter) not working without iDrive but does the status info not work either? Fuel level, Range etc... I didn't get the idrive/nav but i did order bluetooth, usb hookups.

Not sure if you already know but it definitely needs the mobile application preparation 6NR which I believe can only be connected to your phone via the snap in adaptor.

Incorrect. The snap in adaptor does nothing but connects your phones antenna to the car antenna. There is FULL functionality with the usb cable. This is a common misconception. Even my sales adviser thought this but then again he wasn't the sharpest tool!! My calender functioning is working fine.

No sadly, the app says connected when I plug it in and turn on, but none of the data populates in the app. Then on the iDrive, nothing shows as available (Facebook, Pandora, etc).

I know this is a topic for some of the other forums, but what version of iOS are you running? I am running 5.v7, and apparently the others using iDrive say that it works fine.

I know this has to have been answered somewhere and I'm embarassed to ask but oh well.
I'm doing PCD next month and driving 1300 miles home. What do I need to get my iphone to charge and hook up to all this wizbang bluetooth usb stuff I was talked into getting? I didn't get the apps but did get the usb and bluetooth. Does whatever I need to connect come with the car or do I need to bring a ligher charger and usb cable? Told ya it was a dumb question.. |

Hrm. I'm using the latest beta as well, and figured it was just the issue there. I guess not, and I'll have to do more checking.

You must use the Apple OEM white usb cable!!!! Not the black BMW cable.
