in that banked corner there is a lot of load on the outside wheels (as you can see) Suspension is set-up for that track, works flawlessly

why not take off the original mesh and leave it open
bumping this thread for an answer. Now that we know the air ducts themselves will fit, is it possible to remove the mesh on the sides altogether to achieve a look similar to the M3?

you can, but it will not look that well finished, as there will be a gap between the duct and the bumper. Have a look at your bumper and see how the mesh is fitted.

Garage List
Cross posting from the track forum, but the information is relevant in this thread. I saw marcel_b's pictures and I wanted to do the same thing. There's a huge thread in the track forum about the 335i and oil temps and instead of the 335is duct I got an M3 duct as it was available in stock vs. weeks out to arrive from Germany. Check out the install here:

I went down to my garage and checked myself and it indeed the vents of the 335i are a bit wider on the inside. The outside and shape seem to fit. I will check during install if the the vents can be adapted (thinking about cutting a bit out of the middle). Keep you posted.

Sorry again for the to early thumbs-up.
So, did you find a way to install the vents too? There is a problem if i install only the air ducts?
