2013 N52 no friction washer? BMW says it’s not in the parts list for this year.

I’m confused, in the rebuild of this engine I did not find a friction washer during disassembly and BMW says there isn’t one according to my VIN.

Can someone verify this washer does not exist in my year/model of N52?

I’m close to buttoning this up with new crank bolt and need to know there isn’t one and do I replace the gears instead?

Makes no sense but I am positive there wasn’t one in there when it was disassembled.

My only dealership BMW parts guy is clueless and no help.

Shows it in the image but the line number is greyed out same as the BMW dealers, friction washer is shown in the image but no part number to order.

On the part it says see service manual which is hilarious.

Update, upon close examination the sprockets and hub that make up the crankshaft bolt assembly have no abrading or diamond impregnation or other friction enhancing techniques used on the components. All parts appear to as machined and not worked in some way to enhance their grip on the adjacent component.

I’m sure BMW requires these components to be replaced but I can see no good reason to it…so I’m not.

However these components will be heavily coated with permanent high strength/temp loctite to ensure nothing backs out of slips during operation, lots of material on the hub to ensure this interface stays bonded and resistant to vibration.

Makes you wonder what the disc was for, obviously not really tested to failure if they just eliminate the component completely.

Update, 500km on the engine rebuild and few runs to 6500 to test function and so far no issues with this friction washer not being present and survived retroquing a once used crank bolt which was reused and torqued to good and tight with a 3/4" drive bar (which broke on instal), I would guesstimate that's close to 400ft/pds before I could get the bolt to yield even slightly to return it to stock tension when stretching after primary install.

More than a few runs to 7K through multiple gears and no issues to date. In case this helps someone in the future that is confused with this friction ring not being present on the newer models of N52.

Obviously causes more problems than it solves, I think all you would have to do is upgrade to the later model drive gear to get the correct backspacing for the chain to eliminate the friction ring.

Side note: this chain drive assembly was coated with high strength Loctite during assembly and then final torqued the same day, approx one week of cure time while the engine was placed back and first started in case that matters to anyone.
