Bluetooth spotify problems

I apologize if this have already been asked but
I recently bought my first bmw (2014 328i) and i’ve been having a problem with the bluetooth and spotify. After i connect to the car And go to media the screen won’t update The album artist song etc. And sometimes the album cover will get stuck on the first song i play. I have a iphone 15 and have done little to no trouble shooting.

I also have a 2014 328 and have the same issue. I’ve been meaning to update the idrive software to see if it fixes the issue. I owned a 2015 X5 that had the same issue and it was resolved after I updated the idrive software.

whenever i try and update it says it’s outdated and has the same update as the usb. I’ve had the car now for abt a week and it’s not that big of a deal but it’s annoying

I tried updating my idrive today and also ran into issues—odd because didn’t have issues updating my F15 X5’s idrive last year. I’ve had my 328 for 7 years. The song display issue only started happening in recent years. I suspect with newer iPhone updates it stopped being compatible with the aging idrive system. Songs still play but as you said, just a little annoying.

I had the same problem, update from BMW site did not help. Though I was having some issue and took my car to the dealer and they updated the software, since then it works perfectly. My car is 2013 with NBT.

Good to know. Curious, did they charge for the update? Hopefully not. I checked my idrive version and don't have the latest version so tried updating my software last week via usb and wasn't able to do it for some reason. I may do what you did and call the dealer.

I got a usb cable for the center console and when i plug my phone it a spotify app
pops up so maybe it’s a bluetooth thing 🤷

Ah. I haven’t used the usb cable in a very long time and forgot that using it displays more info. I actually pulled the trigger and got a CarPlay / Android Auto retrofit kit last week and just had it installed yesterday. Wasn’t cheap and need to use it for longer to decide whether it was worth it.
