RESOLVED //HELP! BMW E90 325i, popping noise from passenger side.
Need some help here. There is a random popping sound from passenger side windshield and A-pillar area (not from dash) when front right wheel hits a speed hump or other bumps on road. Seems to happen more often when the chassis flexes and the sound like a rock hits the windshield.
I uploaded a video: In the video, it's normal when hits the second hump. But it's bad when hits the first and the third hump. Anyone knows about this issue? All opinion will be really helpful.. thanks! ================================================== == Yestoday, a senior seller employee found out the reason. Glass adhesive between windshield and A-pillar was cracked. Replace windshield and glass adhesive, the issue has been resolved. Last edited by icross; 09-15-2013 at 10:00 AM.. |

sounds like your front end links are shot. But could be the lower ball joints too but you would get pretty heavy vibration thru the steering wheel if it was that.

I've taken the car to BMW sellers 4 times, they checked everything include suspension but couldn't find out the reason. I hear the sound many times every day, and I'm sure it's from windshield or A-pillar... |

Such a small bums should not be twisting your body/chassis where windshield or a pillar comes into play unless the car has been in an accident previously. I suggest have somebody stand outside and go over the bumps again. If they can hear it from the outside nicely....its your suspension.

It's a bit difficult because the noise is random and hard to reappear. The guy outside will be bored |

I don't remember if the noise already exists before the accident... |

Lol.. Try opening the hood and stand inside the engine bay and bounce it up and down to try and mimic the sound. I know it sounds a little far fetched but by applying pressure are weight to the suspension...Might be easier to hear where the noise is coming from.

UPDATE:
Today, I removed everything on A pillar. My friend driving and I sat on passenger side to detect the noise. We hit bumps more than 20 times with front right wheel, the noise was definitely from the area in following picture of A pillar. But, I still can't detect which part made the noise precisely, all welding pots and glass adhesive are normal... |

Any update.
+1 here. Its happens random. Seems like its coming from rear passenger side. First thing that came to mind was something to do with the window regulator could be loose. Some thing in there twist and the window acts like a speaker and just amplifies the sound. |
