I found the process super smooth when I got mine in 2019.

Was there a reason for not getting the rebate?

2019 was great as I was able to join the BMWCCA and get the rebate since I found out about it before my car arrived for me to take delivery (I ordered). Now there is a waiting period.

I think the tricky part that may catch some people off guard then was that you had to have joined the CC before you took delivery. I think you could have joined on the same day, but I can't remember the old terms exactly.

I only ask this as your membership expires this year like mine so it sounded like you may have been a new 3y member aiming to get the rebate at the time like I was.

And, if it weren't already obvious, it isn't the Club's money you're getting in your rebate. It comes from BMW NA. BMWCCA just administers the program for BMW NA, a compromise the Club offered years ago when BMW NA wanted to discontinue the program because our members made it such a hassle for them. I remember getting a letter from a member complaining that his rebate on a 5-series was denied because his membership had lapsed and this was the last car he would ever buy because his cancer diagnosis said he had only six-months to live. (At least that's what he said.)

If that were my prognosis, I doubt I'd be spending two-seconds composing a letter for a $500 rebate on a car I'd already bought. Life is what happens while you're doing something else.
It is a nice program. Used it a few times myself.

You had to join within 15 days of delivery if I remember correctly.

LMFAO, yeah, I'm sure it's such a hassle for BMWNA to run this program or hire someone to do so considering they made billions last year in profit.

I mean, I'm surprised they still do it, too...after all, they won't even spend any of that billions to hire people to update customers on build issues or delays at ports. GTFO.

This isn't a knock against BMWCCA...it's am knock at BMW. They obviously just want to be cheap and keep this money....hence the "hassle".

Didn't you have to hold a subscription for a year before the actual purchase to be eligible for the rebate? They had some limited exceptions in the recent past if you bought a 3 year membership or something like that.

It doesn't sound like your circumstances met the published terms and conditions. Or did you meet it and they just decided to be difficult?

I've had zero issues getting the rebate but I'm also a lifetime member (decided to get it after realizing I'd come out ahead in the long term - the rebate on my X5 paid for the full cost of being lifetime).

I am glad that some people have gotten a rebate. 20 years into BMWCCA I have gotten zero rebates as I said before. On my M2 I got a Corporate rebate which made me ineligible for the BMWCCA rebate. On my M235i before the M2 there wasn't a BMWCCA rebate available for that model.

And so on and so on.

What was the reason you had to fight with them and they didn't budge?

A 3Y membership would allow you access to the rebate in 2019 with limited exclusions around certain types of discounts that BMWNA doesn't allow overlapping the rebate with.

I had such a smooth experience that I am only asking so others can have a complete picture when deciding to pursue the club rebate.

I was never given a good reason, I think I ended it after they told me I was ineligible because I didn't finance through BMW - which isn't in the terms, or wasn't then. After visiting their office in person while on vacation in SC, I decided I was wasting too much time to keep pursuing it - I can't imagine BMW making another car worth buying for a while anyways, and I have no other purpose for a membership.

Yeah that's very much off. Sorry you had to deal with that. I didn't finance with BMW and that didn't factor into my rebate at all.

Financing is not required and has nothing to do with the rebate. And I can't imagine anyone in the office telling you that was the reason.

true story...this is a rebate, a post-purchase check that BMWNA cuts directly to the owner. Has nothing to do with financing or getting any special discount on the front end of the buying process. It doesn't hurt the margins at the dealer b/c BMWNA pays it, not the dealer.

I get plenty of people complaining to me they didn't get their rebate for many reasons; and almost 99% of them is b/c they let their membership lapse. That's a very specific requirement from BMWNA (not CCA), but somehow it's my fault, or the club's fault b/c they were too lazy to renew on time.

I am a 20 year member and have never qualified for a discount. I have always received an incentive such as a fleet incentive that I got on my M2. Using an incentive disqualifies you from the BMWCCA rebate. Doesn’t seem fair but that is what happens.

That's pretty unlucky, but I bet many of those incentives are coming out of the same pot, so they probably think it's double-dipping. And, just like you usually can't stack promotions/coupons, you get one of the other.

Hopefully as a 20 year member, there's other benefits that's kept you around for so long.

Actually I have been a member of my local chapter since 1973. It was originally a BMWACA chapter and later merged with BMWCCA.

And yes I have done outcross, HPDE, tours, and many social events with the club over the years. The Puget Sound club is quite a busy club.

Just so it is clear for others, not all incentives will disqualify you. Only the corp/fleet discount does.

I don't think I've ever gotten an incentive that disqualified me from the BMWCCA rebate. I am self-employed so I've never gotten the corporate rebate.

That is true this year. But hasn't been the only disqualification in the past.

They had 1.49% financing last week, which may have increased to 1.99% this week.

Yup, they (DCU) just bumped it to 1.99% sometime this week. I have an account there.

I did get BMW Financial to match the 1.49% at DCU when I got my 340 in November of 2021.
