Cool How do you get Piano Black in the US?

Trying to get Piano Black /Oyster. However it is not an option as per the dealer. However I see tons of posts with US cars with Piano black Trim

Is there a way to get it like that from the factory? My last experience replacing trim after the fact was not so pleasant...

Whats the secret ??

Isn't the high gloss black different from the piano trim? Thought the piano black trim is an exclusive Individual trim... And that, in the US, you can only get Individual through certain dealers...

From what I understand high gloss black is just black painted plastic, where piano black is a black stained wood with clear coat over it.
Any truth to this?

high gloss black has metallic flakes in it, where as piano black is a flat deep black. Yes high gloss black is plastic, yes piano black is wood.

Only available for the E90 BTW. I checked...
P.S. I'm not impressed at all with the black gloss trim. It's cheap shit IMO...meh.

BMW makes the Piano Black trim for the E92/93 but, as far as I know, it can only be obtained thru the BMW Individual program.

There's bound to be a way to get. Anyone???

even though they kind of look the same, Piano Black is a lot nicer in person.

I have the gloss black trim and I love it, but saw the piano black in person and speechless

The gloss black has blue speckles under the sun, but the piano black has a "depth" to it...

OP: I think all dealerships can order it for you; at least they can in Canada

I've never seen the gloss black in person. It has blue speckles? That might be really nice in my Montego 93 with creme beige. What do YOU think?

Also, is it as hard to maintain as many have posted elsewhere (fingerprints, scratches)?

Have you posted any pics of your trim.

Thanks for the input.

I have gloss black as well, and it does have a metallic fleck in it.

It does show dust easily, but nothing a quick wipe doesn't get rid of. Fingerprints do show easily, can't really avoid it on the centre console, but really how often are you touching the strip of trim on the dash?

The trim has a lot of orange peel though, thats my biggest gripe with it. I presume the Piano black would be much nicer (I've never seen it in person). It's the stock trim option here in Canada for the 328.
