I have a pair of VMR v701 19 inch in a rear offset of 22 and the fronts in 35.

I want to have a more flush look but i rubbed in the back when going over

bumps in the road with my additional 5 mm spacers.

As a result, i took them out and i no longer rub.

I have fender rolled in the back.

How do people achieve the "flush" look?

Do they just deal with rubbing?

Is rubbing terrible for tires?

If the wheels in back are 19x9.5 ET22 that should be pretty damn flush
For aggressive applications, people use stretch, negative camber and fender rolling

When going for the flush look you are going for you must be extremely careful with fitment. As you notice, even 5mm makes a difference. There are varying amounts that you can roll a fender, and some even opt for "pulling" the fender and making it wider. Setup varys from car to car, and when dealing with this type of setup even tire brand can determine if you are going to rub or not rub.

What width wheel are you using, and what size and which tire? Have you added in any extra camber? Camber can be a great tool for fitting a more aggressive wheel/tire setup and avoiding rubbing. If you could provide pictures it would be much easier to assist you.

As a warning, it is fairly common to accept some rubbing when doing "hella flush" fitment, but it can be done with no rubbing. Rubbing on the tires generally sounds worse than it actually is. I know many people that will rub all of the lettering clean off of the sidewall from rubbing, and have no ill affects on tire performance. It really depends on how bad, and where it is rubbing (is it a sharp point, or is it a smooth metal surface).

Thank you. I will try to attempt to get some pictures up. But im using 9.5 in the back and the rims are wrapped in hankook v12s.

are you running 265/30/19 tire at rear? I'm surprise you dont rub with et 22 at the back without fender rolled.

If you are trying to go for more of a poke, then you'll need to run a slightly narrower tire so that you can push the wheel farther out without having rubbing issues.

A 245 or 255 will offer a decent stretch on a 9.5" wheel and will give enough space to add a spacer.

I do have fender roll. I might just live with it or throw in some spacers and live with the rub.
So my question now is, How bad is rubbing for the tires?

Its not bad, if youre worried this much about rubbage then youre not ready. If you cannot tolerate the smell burnt rubber then uber flush isnt for you lol.

mine is much worse than you lol, fender rolled, but im getting my camber fix today, hope it helps

Depending on how severe the rubbing is, it can puncture and destroy the sidewall of the tire.
