Vehicle PPI results are out!

Hi all, I’m considering a 2019 m850i and here are main issues found.
  • Slight vibration felt through brake pedal when braking
  • Engine coolant smell but no visible leakage
  • Battery low state of charge

Are these issues I should be concerned about?

First and third items are the dealer trying to generate revenue from you to replace the brakes and battery. Neither seem serious.

Engine coolant smell could be normal, depends on the vehicle. MBs for example "sweat" coolant at the hose joints, and coolant smell is common. Search the forums for coolant smell. It could be normal, or it could be a water pump or cylinder head gasket making its way to Heaven.

I’m guessing just using the brakes will remove that?

Beware the Hot Vee! That very same drivetrain in my '20 M550i was plagued with issues and the vehicle was brand new off the dealer lot. That coolant smell(and subsequent leakage)is a common issue, was back to the dealer 13x in 1.5yrs for warranty work for that,as well as other issues.

Make sure you have ALL the extra add-on warranty you can afford to purchase chances are you'll need it...

I believe in the newest revision to that motor the coolant lines to the turbos should be stainless steel not rubber hoses. Id check that out- seems to be one of the biggest issues with the N63

I can't say for all cases of course but historically I've seen "warped" rotors (pedal vibration) turn out to be pad deposits on the rotors that can be scrubbed off with a couple aggressive stops from higher speeds. If there's a test drive option without a sales person present, maybe give it a try (be safe)? If it works, there's really no issue, but if they don't know that it might still be some leverage with the seller?

I don't think the seller was ever explained - the dealer, a different dealer, private party, Carmax...? This might factor into the overall situation.

It’s an independent used car dealer.

He said there was a spot on the rotor that was removed and the issue was fixed. I will be going there in person so will see haha.

I'd immediately be suspicious and walk away from buying a used BMW(even more so if service records from original owner are not included) from a non BMW dealer,I've seen more than enough situations where that ultimately proved to be a huge mistake.

This is strictly 100% my opinion,so take it w a grain of salt

Had the coolant smell issue, followed by low coolant warnings. This issue merits coolant line replacement.

Did BMW replace it with just the same parts? Or do they upgrade it to a different material.

Yes, I was very skeptical as well. However, this car does have all the options I want and got a reasonable price plus trade in. The dealership rating seems pretty solid as well and the communication has been clear. Had a thorough PPI done as well.

I will be getting the extended warranty so not too worried but just annoying to deal with fixing potential issues.

Upgraded lines, aluminum I believe. They also changed hoses, and the thermostat + housing.
