I live for moments like this in my tuned S6. Most american muscleheads have no clue what I am packing. The M3 serves a different purpose.

It's ok OP, I got raped by a JB3 335i from a 30 mph roll. He did stop walking me by the time we hit 90...he kind of flat lined and I clawed a little but too late.

I'm sure their bolt ons don't carry an /M tax too. Quote:
The real question is, does the regular drive have the skill to drive each car to their full potential? .

The Ford GT base mustang is just as fast quarter mile as ours. Cost them 28k...
However, Mustang is not faster...so he was modified without a doubt. Or you may have ran a 2013 GT500 and didn't know it - they are over 600 HP....... By the way some people said NOS but I am sure they were joking because ....they have a million and one modifications they can do for half the price as ours. He was probably supercharged. Getting a supercharger and wasting even more money is not going to work. You will only equal them when its said and done for twice the cost of their car and twice the cost of the mods. Everything you can do they can do for half the price ...its a losing deal... Don't bother trying to beat them on the straights ...and if you want to do that kind of thing go buy a Corvette they bumped them up to 430 HP in 2008 and you can buy one for as little as 35k now...put a supercharger etc etc....you will be at 700 HP for around 15k total in mods including suspension mods. I owned one of the baddest street stangs in my area. It was a 2004 Saleen Mustang with a Kenny Bell s/c DOHC Terminator motor. At 620hp at the feet, I didn't run across anything I didn't beat. Needless to say, I sold it and bought the M. When you start seriously modding a car, it is just a race to the next broken part. Enjoy this great car. If you think a Mustang or Corvette is the way to go, sell it and buy one. It will be cheaper, maybe faster, but they are not in the same league as this car. You'll be back. This from a hard core Mustang guy...

Mustangs are great cars. Handle well and go fast, for less than the M3. Mods are cheaper also. I'd say most stock 5.0 will beat most stock M3. The M3 seems less consistent in its performance. Add the bolt on NA mods or a supercharger. It sucks getting spanked. You can act like a big deal and say you have a lot of money or a fancier car so it does not matter, but the bottom line is you got spanked by a cheaper car. Accept it or respond in kind. I have an E36M3 that will spank my E90M3 and most cars on the road. If my E90M3 gets beaten by someone I am happy for that person. It is fun being the faster car.

it's funny i had an exact experience a few weeks ago. he pulled away on me like no other and i couldn't understand why. i know he should be able to take me, but this car was moving so fast i knew he had to have had at least bolt ons done to the car. the weird part was i couldn't hear that loud mustang exhaust over my car
then on the other hand against the same car in manual with a 17 year old kid driving...i embarrassed him, but that is all due to driver error |

I have to give it to the cheap and fast guys...they spent less and go faster - bottom line we spent more and go slower. However, drag racing is definitely not everything ... Last edited by M3-S65; 06-10-2014 at 08:11 PM.. |

The $10,000 question: did he pull on you like this? Cause there is a cure for that...

LOL, wasn't stock or maybe you weren't in the right gear (60 mph at bottom of 3rd may have been the problem). 40+ mph is where the M3 shines. I've encountered much faster (on paper) cars on the highway and on the track and pulling away like crazy at 40+ mph doesn't really happen with those vehicles vs a FBO M3 (GTR, F430, F355, CTS-Vs, E60M5 and 997T Porsches) even though they are faster.

Doesn't bother me....nemore. There are some nasty civics that could pull on some stock super cars (458, gallardo, even Aventador)... Point is, there is always something faster than your car..

Show me one, and make sure it can be reproduced as cheaply as the stang can. An x pipe for an M3 costs more than they spend to do all bolt ons, plus drag radials, plus a tank of gas and entrance to the track. It's a losing argument man, I come from stangs and vette's. They are superior in their ability for straight line speed. Period.
Every tune/intake/exhaust/drag radial 5.0 automatic will run mid to low 11s for less than $2k. A 150 shot of nitrous on a 5.0 with dr's will run 10s all day and take it. That route will cost them less than $1k

I completely agree with all of you, I use to have a 2011 e92 m3 and sold it for an S4, worst mistake of my life. The Audi was good in its quattro and thats about it, a year after owning it, I sold it and got a 2013 e92 m3 again and I've never loved m3's like this before.
Im just saying, the way I got handled by that mustang was so evil, it all happened so fast lol Like one second he's blowing his horn and the next second he's a quarter mile ahead. Maybe one can argue that he had a SC or just upgraded pistons, cams, or whatever, point is I got spanked. The tension is starting to pass over me now, but I've definitely learned to not underestimate a sleeper looking GT. |
