Extended Warranty Options

I have a 2008 328i with 57k miles. The CPO warranty will run out I May 2014 and I am looking for extended warranty options. Preferably a BMW branded warranty. Does anyone know if BMW offers such a warranty or can recommend a reputable company?

Go for the fidelity platinum warranty (which is sold through BMW). It covers a little more than cpo, and since it is sold by the dealership you have more leverage on claims approval...versus a 3rd party warranty.

How does fidelity platinum compare to the Route 66 easy street warranty?

Check out Carchex...was recommended on another BMW forum. It might save you some money.

Thank you for the input. I will be contacting the companies you mentioned. I spoke with BMW and they now offer a plan to extend your CPO warranty for an additional year and up to 100k miles. The cost is steep at $1800.

Additionally, I spoke with an independent BMW mechanic who recommend Mercury Insurance for a warranty plan. Mercury is my home and auto insurance carrier so I have a call into my broker.

Extend after the extended warranty expires, that's a bit extreme. I would rather just keep the money in an internet bank and withdraw when needed...

your car is too old for an extended warranty. What BMW is offering you is basically the last year of their 7 year warranty ( that is the most the offer for any of their car).

1800$ for one year is not worth it . Unless you car has been breaking down consistently , I just do not think paying close to 2000 for an extended warranty is really worth it , on the other hand , if your car spends a lot of time in the shop , it may be worth it

Find a reputable warranty company and align yourself with an "Indy" shop that will champion your cause for any repairs and make you whole.

Not only do you gain an additional year of "Platinum" coverage with the CPO Platinum wrap upgrade, years 5/6 become Platinum coverage VS CPO.

Fidelity IS the best 3rd party coverage and is sold by many BMW dealerships nationwide. Fidelity is the factory warranty underwriter for Volkswagen USA, Hyundai and Kia, however only an official BMW factory extended warranty provides new component parts VS used/remanufactured.

Might represent a larger profit margin for them, these agreements are NEVER in the interest of the person buying them. PENSKE owned BMW dealerships DO NOT sell BMW extended warranties. Why? Profit margins.
