That's been a selling point since launch, back in Nov 2011. Some people have had issues with the boot opening. How's yours?

Works fine. Had to read the manual to figure it out. I thought you had to wave your foot under, but you just kick under and straight back and it pops right open.

If your hands are full, I can see it being very useful.

It will save the bags from getting dirty in the winter but I really wanted something that both opens and closes so I don't have to touch the dirt.

I tried it maybe 5 times now and it hesitates to work sometimes.

But the keyless entry is great. Tha'ts an option I had once before and it's very handy, the trunk opener not so much imo.

Just wondering, on your old F10, did you also have the automatic closing lid (after pressing a button) like they have on the X5? I'm totally unaware if this is on every 5 series or just the X5's..

No.
It opens just by a press of the button on the keyfob, but I had to close it manually. Just like the F30.

It's a nice gimmick for reviews and forums but it's not that special imo(the trunk/boot opener)

Thanks, I wasn't sure if you had it or not on the F10. I honestly love how it closes automatically on my X5, opening is the same as with you, with the keyfob.

And yeah, I agree, it is indeed a nice gimmick to open it with your foot on the F30 but it's really nothing more but a release. Quite simple stuff really

I do try to imagine myself using that feature .. but if you could imagine coming out from a clients place in a suit lap top in one hand , trying to kick the bumber ...to open my boot cracks me up... suit + kicking action + unsuccessful opening = very embarrassing

For those complaining about getting hands dirty when closing the trunk. You do realize that there are recessed hand holds inside the trunk lid on either side of the license plate that can be used to close the trunk?
