How to trace trunk interior for flush box

This isn't the greatest example, but how are people cutting the right and left edges to get it flush with the trunk?

Just tape measuring or is there some technique I'm missing?

I have always taken pieces of cardboard from a box laying around somewhere and trimmed it till it was perfect = templating.

That box you posted looks to be the zenclosure box that sells for like 180 shipped. Its actually a decent setup - the owner will customize the displacement.

Cardboard is great and you can use masking tape to follow curves to get your template.

Did this for a floor:

Sweet setup. Gives me more ideas for my buildout. What type of sub is that? Do you have it firing through the skipass (or did you have to cut) and is it a free-air sub? How does it sound?

Looks like I'll be going the cardboard route.

It's a custom mod SSA icon for use IB- and it does fire through the ski pass. It was cut for a previous setup to allow more sound into the cabin. Sounds absolutely fantastic.
