The NBA has scoreboards/video over the court, but a player can't just throw the ball at it to stop the clock and get a replay. Jones followed the NFL specs, so the specs will change or the rules will change...My guess is they will count it as out of bounds in the future. Otherwise, a team can just punt the ball at the panel to get the clock stopped.. I bet the NFL gave them the same height as the cameras they mount over the field. Obviously, the cameras are a much smaller target, so I am not aware of anyone trying to hit them intentionally..
Regardless, the stadium is still the most awesome stadium in the league.. I don't consider something that can be easily remedied an epic fail.. Especially in preseason. |

That new stadium is amazing, there was an episode of Build It Bigger featuring that place. They even showed the installation of the JerryTron.
If they're punting the ball down the center of the field, it's a bad punt to begin with. I wonder if the league is going to step in and have them move this up or not.

With all the engineering, time and money that went into this facility does anyone think there were no measurements for punt heights?
Makes me wonder. Intentional? Jerry does like press. 40 million dollars for a TV. Last edited by gonzo; 08-23-2009 at 07:49 AM.. |

If a punter wants to kick the ball straight up, how high is high enough? It is a little late for the NFL to come in and dramatically change specs.. I am betting we will see a ruling that says it is out of bounds.

it is an EPIC fail to build a 1.2 BILLION dollar stadium and have NO idea how high punters kick the ball. PERIOD. I don't give a crap about NFL regulations...any architect worth his salt knows to double check this...
GO STEELERS Keep building stadiums Dallas...it won't fix your quarterback... |

Jerry Jones loves to do stuff like this on purpose. It gives the home team an advantage because they'll learn to play around it. Just like the half sunlight / half darkness that covered the field in Texas Stadium when they'd open the roof.

You would think with one of the best punters in the league in McBriar that Jerry wouldn't want to place a huge obstacle in the stadium that may prevent him from booming his punts.
