B58 Gen 1 Blue Smoke after Catless DP Install
Hi guys,
I recently installed a VRSF catless downpipe on my Gen 1 B58 motor and my friends have noted a small amount of blue smoke coming from my exhaust under heavy acceleration. Two months before I had blown my PCV and that had dumped oil into the exhaust and all over the left side of the motor. After a few days and having replaced the PCV, the smoke had completely gone, and no issues since. Having installed the catless DP, I did notice some oil dripping when I took the OEM dp off and installed the new catless DP, however now under heavy throttle, a small amount of blue smoke is being let off from the exhaust. It has only been two days since installing the catless dp. Could it be oil that it still in the system from when I blew my PCV that is now burning off or could it be that my turbo seals are beginning to go? Anyone have any input? Thanks |

You definitely should not be seeing oil (inside) at the DP, must be leaking out of the turbo as you suspect. The list of suspects isn't long for an oil leak at that location. Is there oil residue from the PCV on and around the turbo/DP? Where did you see the oil dripping from?

I'd say you have something leaking. That DP/turbo area gets up to ludicrous temps (it can glow red under hard pulls), so any oil that was there 2-months ago is long gone.
