I think it's way too early to compare the two cars, but after seeing the rear seats in the RC it looks completely unusable, I would rather have an M4 where you can fit people back there in a pinch

Lexus' are for girls... I've never known a man to drive one
Ok an LFA would be the one anomaly... But Paris Hilton has one I would recommend choosing one over the new infiniti/skyline q5/60 or whatever it is called I'm not sure why anyone would compare a Toyota to a BMW |

The RC-F definitely has potential but I am typically Asian-car averse, largely due to where I live and the social stigma attached to high-priced Asian cars here.

I declined to even drive the IS-F on the track because it has an 8 speed automatic transmission. I couldn't get my head around why you'd want 8 speeds in a track car. You can probably drive the entire course in 4th.

One would hope that aftermarket companies have a solution for that ASAP. As silly as it sounds that exhaust is a reason enough for me NOT to even consider that car. |

In other news the new Mustang is supposed to be a competitor to the M3 and 911…… http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2013/12/...d-911-7717504/

is the RCF still slated to have a 5.0l V8 making about 460 hp and be priced around 100k. Everything sounds great about that except the price. Will there be a true Lexus M4 competitor as close to it in price and performance as the IS-F was to the M3?

swamp, there are indeed rumors to that effect, but I'm sure you are as skeptical about that price claim as myself and others. The standard RC has already debuted and it is very clear they are targeting the 4 Series, A5/S5, G37 (soon to be Q60), C Class coupe, and ATS coupe. In other words this is the would-be IS coupe. So then it is pretty unlikely, at least to me, that they intend to charge six figures for the performance RC-F model.
As for the engine rumor, it is much more believable. It is going to be interesting to see if they let it rev this time around. The IS-F had a redline of 6800 RPM, I think they will have raised it as part of the effort to get 10% more power (or more). This car could be the answer for those who want the Mustang engine in a package with more luxury features. |

UPDATE 1/09/14:
Preliminary specs for the RC-F: 5L V8 480 HP 384 lb-ft Toque 3970 LBS 7300 RPM redline Automatic Transmission only (No DCT) Tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sports sized 255/35 in front, 275/35 in back. The lexus also features a fuel saving technology borrowed from the Prius according to MT "A switch to electric phasing on all four cams brings greater variability and precision, and lets the engine borrow the Prius' more efficient Atkinson cycle operation during low-demand cruising conditions. So, while BMW downsized its M3/M4 engine from a 4.0-liter V-8 to a 3.0-liter I-6 and added twin turbochargers to compensate, Lexus virtually downsizes its 5.0-liter V-8 to roughly a 4.2-liter just by leaving the intake valves open for part of the compression stroke during Atkinson operation."

The only redeeming quality of the RC-F is the NA V8 engine. Everything else -- from the exterior design, to the bloated weight, to the automatic transmission -- is no bueno.
If this thing were 700 pounds lighter, had cleaner exterior lines, didn't have those crazy front and rear overhangs, and had a DCT transmission, then it would be something worth discussing.

But even the V8 engine could be better; <100 Hp per Liter, doesn't rev as high as the M4 and has less torque than the M4 =/

If this thing is Lexus' baby LFA, then they missed the mark.
