DS vs D driving M57

The temperatures here winter time varie around 0C (32F) to -20C (-4F).

So the temperatures in the engine also are lower for longer time and in tough - degrees we should cover the radiator to keep the engine in good operating temperature.

Also the speeds here are basically 90-103 km/h (55-63 mph).
It brings a thought to my head, that driving in SPORT-mode could be better to the engine? The M57 keeps 5th gear 2000RPM 97km/h (60mph) vs. DRIVE-mode 6th gear 1600RPM or less.

Town-driving on Drive-mode the RPM-s are low and so the CBU problem might be faster to come? While the SPORT-mode revs the engine more, which helps the soot/carbon to leave the engine better?

Could I be correct?

Hi there
Do you know what normal operation temperature is?
I have an Awron display in mine and have changed the oil drain plug to one with a temp sensor. And I can see that my oil temp is around 60 degrees Celsius at ambient temp at 0-5 degrees Celsius and highway driving. I know the actual temp is a bit higher since the sensor is at the oil pan and will be cooled by the wind while driving.
I just think it’s a bit low.....

I don't know the exact perfect oil temp, but if your coolant temp is in correct parameters, it is assumed that your oil is too.

In the cartrige, where you have the temp. sensor, the oil temp. is probably lower, it is not in use there.

I've measured oil and coolant temp before and they were within 1 or 2 deg C. I used iCarly though so not sure where in oil circuit that temp is measured. I run about 85-86C due to no EGR cooler.

Coolant is at the normal 84-90 but the oil was at the max at 58-60 deg c on the way home today where I drove approx 110km in 2 deg c ambient temp.
Could be that the sensor is faulty then.....
