Used Radio
I changed my radio when I bought the car as the old one had no display and kept restarting. I bought a used one off ebay. It works good, but I have no NAV. What do I need to fix this? I have recently started coding and have fixed a few things with my KDcan cable. Do I need an enet? not really much out there for a 2010 328i.

You'll need a K+DCAN cable and FSC Tool. Just search on this forum how to activate navigation. Most will show how to patch and use patched FSC codes. Alternatively, instead of using a patcher, you can purchase ready-to-go codes from a site like bimmertool.com. Skip to the point in the tutorials where you're loading each FSC code. Lastly, you can purchase an emulator which will enable maps. Plug and play. |

It had Nav
There is a Nav button, just says unavailable. Previous buyer said it did, also would it have the widescreen if not? I do have iDrive. I also have the old radio, and it has a hard drive. I guess I need to do some research on which one, because I'm not quite sure. Will the old radio tell me? Quick search I guess Hifi since I don't have the center speaker but have tweeters?

I read this in another post:
After 3/07 buid a D/K Can cable wasn't enough to program radio and idrive functions, it requires and ICOM cable. Should I order one? |

ICOM isn't just a cable it's an entire interface module. But no you don't need it. You only need an icom for updating the entire CIC head unit software. FSC codes are basically registration keys and are very small files.

Hi Fi is not the Radio Hi Fi is the sound system . = speaker and amp's or lack of amp.
The Radio as you call it is either idrive or Professional Radio. When you say you have no Nav doesn't nail down if you have idrive or pro radio. Although most people would deduce you don't have idrive it's still nebulous and questionable. Sound systems are defined by the Speakers and Amp if any . Head units are the thing in the dash. In the US it will either be CCC or CIC depending on the year. Last edited by ctuna; 01-11-2022 at 02:50 PM.. |

ahhhh iDrive
Sorry CTuna, I have the iDrive, the knob that controls it all. Also, I just dug up an old email that shows my ebay purchase, it says CIC radio. I bought it 2 years ago, but only got into programming the last couple of months.

FCS File reader
I have tried to run the FCS file reader, and can see my VIN, then the VIN of the stereo installed. I gave up on trying to change the vin to match as I have read I don't need to. I keep seeing that I need a ICom to read this this.
I'm getting this error: SWID reader log: Starting...E-serie... Ediabas version: 7.3.0 Ignition: = OKAY ------------------------------------ Trying... Reading CAS... CAS: VIN - CV182xx Setting addresse: = OKAY Reading CIC... CIC: VIN - CV182xx ------------------------------------ System.Exception: IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLUNIT Total bytes: 0 ------------------------------------_a_ Last edited by danzr1; 01-18-2022 at 08:33 PM.. |

No, you don't need an ICOM. IFH-0009 means what it says. No response from control unit. Either your latency isn't set to 1ms or your OBD cable isn't set to COM1. More than likely your latency needs to be changed, since it's reading everything else.

Always a good idea to use Inpa functional jobs first F3 and F4 to make
sure your rig is communicating. Between sessions updates to Windows may cause the settings to be lost for the interface. |

If Inpa is running you should be able to run functional jobs to
see if it's reading all the control units. Car's made after 3/07 are known to require Icom for programming the Head Unit and other Most Bus modules. |
