Differences in gearboxes

Hey all,

Was wondering if anybody has any info on this question.

i drove the new 3.0l S-Drive with auto transmission the other night and that transmission really shifts quickly almost as good as a DCT box.

Is this gearbox different from the one in my car 2007 3.0si Coupe Auto or is there simply a software flash that BMW car do?

Thanks in advance

The new Z4 is a whole different beast from the e85/e86, the new transmission is quite different.
