Did it take you guys a few days or weeks or driving before getting used to the shape of the V2? Feels a little weird to me, especially turning, u-turns, etc. I drive with my hands at 9 and 3 all the time.

Does it really feel that different? Plan on ordering the V2 this weekend.

All I can attest to is the stripes don't hold up for anything! Have V2 and it's showing wear already. Additionally, had the same issue on the E92 performance wheel back in the day.

With leather driving gloves, it feels awesome. I think the issue I had was lack of grip due to the alcantara.

It definitely feels different. I have had mine for a long time now and I still think it feels a bit weird. I do like it better than the stock wheel on looks alone though.

If I could do it again, I would probably get the CS wheel. It looks great and probably feels great too.

How long have you had it until you began to see the wear?

2 maybe 3 months...also, my hands don't hardly sweat, and never grab the wheel with dirty hands. Known issue.

Question: My car came with V1 from the factory when the first owner ordered it. It's a '16 so the alcantera has seen better days (I intend to get it professionally cleaned), but I really want to get a V2. My question is, does the center carbon ring from a V1 fit a V2?

I believe it does but want to check before I get it cleaned and trade to a V2!

Yeah, the CF insert fits perfectly although it doesn’t seem like it should due to the squared off bottom. Optical illusion I guess. Just installed my V2 last week!

Just purchased the V2 and agree that the shape is "different" but it reminds me of my AMG and you adjust quickly.

Reasoning...

In my opinion, alcantara is difficult to maintain. I love the V1 and several of my friends run it w/no issues. If you eat in the car, have sweaty hands, use lotion, etc. having an alt material (like leather on the V2)to hold is ideal.

Like most things, I think it boils down to how much time you spend cleaning/detailing your cars. Regardless of which you end up selecting , I would protect it with a product from a reputable brand and think it would be prudent to have a cleaner for like materials on hand.

Appreciate it!

I will have a second hand professionally detailed V1 available soon, if anyone is interested. Shoot me a reasonable offer.

These are the wheels I run. The V1 feels a little more narrow and the material does absorb a little road feel. However it really works nice on hot days, always stays cool. Doesn’t get sticky feeling like leather.

The V2 leather is a nice choice. Thicker. Sportier. More feel through the wheel. Feels more precise. The inner “ridge” between 10 o clock and 2 o clock where your palm goes takes a little getting used to.

Overall both are very good wheels

Pop the airbag off and there will be a BMW serial number sticker on the lower right spoke.

Does anyone know if the V2 is the same thickness as the Race wheel with shift lights?

I love the V2 I have but feel like trying the race wheel
