If you have access to a lift, you can knock this out yourself for sure. And probably in less than an hour. Drop the exhaust, drop the gas tank a little and you'll have plenty of access. The way I did it was just absurd but it's what I had at the time.

Stance looks nice, do the 513m's sit flush with the fender as you're set up?

Rear is pretty flush, the fronts poke out just a smidge

To this idea, I would also recommend the AGA tools holder vs. the factory unit. Won't fail again in ~80k miles: https://agatools.com/products/brake-line-bracket - Spendy, but only have to touch things once.

No need to touch the gas tank, but still need to drop the exhaust a bit and deal with some heat shields.

Suppose this is more for youngosbourne

nice! that's a clean solution and looks to be a good design.

mine broke at approx. 70-75k miles, about 8yrs old. so I guess not too bad, but agreed - shouldn't have to deal with it again if aluminum. their video is great too, like JDAURIA said, pretty straightforward with a lift.

02.25.24: Oil Service + Thoughts of Selling?
Oil Service was slightly overdue, I thought I could squeeze out one more free oil service from the dealer through the prepaid maintenance period but mileage did not line up. Used LM5w30 purchased through FCP Euro. Quick, easy, 20 mins.

Been on the fence about actually selling the F31. It's been one of the best BMWs I've ever owned, never left me stranded and has been rock solid. Not a single issue. But may be looking to jump into an F15/G05 X5 as the wife actually drives this more than I do.

Maintenance:
[X] Transfer Case Service (preventative) at 64k
[X] Automatic Transmission Service (preventative) at 64k
[X] Oil Service @ 66,300
[X] Brake Line Bracket @ 66,750

Great job on the maintenance!

Two Qs:

Which steering box/thrust bushing are you replacing? (This one? BMW Power Steering Thrust Repair Kit - Genuine BMW 32106891974)

If you're considering selling any reason you skipped over F85s for the X5s?

Yup pretty much same kit I bought. I bought one off eBay that had the necessary tool in the kit. I actually haven't had a chance to replace this just yet - I have been lazy on doing this service. I decided i'll do this when I replace the WP/Thermostat which will be very soon as preventative. Just rolled over 90k miles.

I assume you mean F15? F85 is X5M, which would be awesome to own - just not practical use for me at the moment. My wife drives the F31 pretty much exclusively right now. I would love an F85 for my commute, and it's crossed my mind numerous times.

After owning (3) E70 X5 35d's, I researched quite a bit on the F15 chassis. But once the G05 came out, BMW took it to another level. The base 40i model has the all important B58 while in F15 it's still N55. The interior is a level or two above F15 as well. Specifically the upgraded leather options. Aesthetics is personal preference but I prefer the look of the G05 over the F15 as well (especially the MSport variants). I had a 45e as a rental a few months ago and it was great.

Maintenance:
[X] Transfer Case Service (preventative) at 64k
[X] Automatic Transmission Service (preventative) at 64k
[X] Oil Service @ 66,300
[X] Brake Line Bracket @ 66,750

[X] Oil Service (Warranty) @81,000
[X] Accessory Belt + Tensioner Replacement @ 85,000
[X] Oil Service @ 86,675
[ ] Steering Box/Thrust Bushing Replacement
[ ] Coolant Flange Replacement ("micky mouse")
[ ] Water Pump
[ ] Thermostat

Also in need of front tires soon. I currently run 255/40/18 all around on my 513s. Thought about switching to 245/45/18 & 275/40/18 for a better stance/look?

I am also on stock OEM chargepipes still, feel like I should replace these are preventative as well soon. Crazy the aftermarket ones are cheaper than OEM?
