F80/F82 Planned Production Quantities
Has anyone found data for planned production quantities of 2015 M cars?
I found historical financial data for first half 2014, but it does not break out M cars. Can this data be found elsewhere? Do we know how many previous gen M cars were made? Any idea if BMW is planning to produce more/less of latest gen F80/F82? |

There is certainly a lot of data on previous M3. Check out the m3 post forum. If you do a search you will find some detailed threads.
Edit: here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=863649 And here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/attachm...5&d=1376330183 On the new one I doubt they have broadcast any specific numbers for their expectations (why make a public target?)

If there is ONE CAR on the market that you cannot drive yourself without looking like a tool, it is a Rolls Royce. it begs 'need a driver'. And, frankly, there just are not that many cities in NA (let alone the world) where you can get away with having a driver in your car. I live in one of the wealthiest cities per capital in North America with lots of $$$ flowing around, and it just doesn't work. I get a 'wealthy eastern seaboard' thing (ie: NYC). I get it in the UK (where it is a historical class thing) but I would have to think in most places, it just isn't going to fly. Even if you can afford it (and lots and lots of people here could afford it) you just look like a tool. ...and yet, and yet....people in places like this buy them. Case in point, my friendly neighborhood exotic car shop has one right now: http://www.kulumotorcar.com/car-detail.asp?id=1161 Don't care if it is 'only' the ghost, I maintain driving it yourself just looks wrong.

Ha, I have to agree. More power to someone if they're happy driving it as they've done well to afford it but it wouldn't be for me. Even with a driver I'd choose an S-Class, just as smooth a ride but much less attention (but I understand that for most people that's a bad thing).

Frankly, I think you can drive an S class yourself, but something about the RR (the rear hinge doors? The massively tall profile? The pedigree? probably all of the above) just says "needs a driver". ....maybe I am just coloured by the "grey poupon" commercials of my youth.

But I think following E36 and E9X trends...the M3 (sedan version) is going to be far more rare than the M4 (coupe version). There are only 5800 E90s versus over 15k E92s in the US. Already I have seen a hand full of M4s but I'm the only M3 on the road I've seen. Most people come up to me and tell me that they've seen the M4 but my M3 is the first one they've seen so far.

As I said in a previous thread, I expect M4 sales to stay relatively flat from the E92/E93 M3, while I think M3 sales will increase sharply from the E90 M3. That's just my take. We have to remember too that the F80 will only get about 4.5 years on the market while the F82 and F83 will get about 6 years.

For the coupes and convertibles I think you can get away with driving them yourself. I'd even say it's preferred to having a driver in that case. Never really see RR on the road though. I do see quite a few Bentleys, almost always Continental GT or GTC. |

Some day when (if) the M3 is allowed to precede the M4 in release as the M5 does the M6, it's relatively short model run can be lengthened. |

the coupes. frankly, forgot RR even made those. but, yes, you would not want a driver in a coupe (am now laughing at mental image of big shot having to climb over the seat to get into back of his $300,000 car........that is probably worse than big shot driving his $400,000 Ghost from the front seat) would be curious to see the breakdown of how many of each model they are selling.
