SOLVED: read updates for resolution.

Hi all.
I'm looking to verify the specs on a new set of wheels but I lose confidence to finalize purchase, as I keep finding variations in people's experiences, even with very similar if not the same set up as my own car. Wondering if anyone can provide confirmations.

CAR:
Pre-LCI(04/2007) e92 335i
Current Suspension: Bilstein B12, M3 front CA conversion, alignment pin removed.
Current wheels: OEM 19" Style 313 (19x8 on 235F/ 19x9 on 265R)
Camber: -1.4 square

New wheel Specs targeted:
18x9 square; 265/35

Will I have any rubbing or clearance issues with this?

Notes:
I've previously run 275's in the rear without any issue. On this set up, I still had potential to run 10mm spacers all around without contact. (however, I've run into quite a few posts from others where 275s caused rubbing. This type of discrepancy is my concern)

I would ideally like to avoid running 255's on 9" if possible, as I had pretty high risk for wheel damage when I ran the stock 255s on the OEM 19x9 rear. I'm sure risk is slightly minimized with an 18" as the sidewall is taller but unsure by how much

Update EDIT:

Installed the new wheels and tires on my car. I was not as lucky as some that were able to run 265s without modification, but a set of camber plates sorted it out perfectly for me.
Below are the details, I'm running a square set up now after upsizing the fronts

Wheel set up: Apex VS5-RS; 18x9 et 30
Tires: Michelin PS4S 265/35/18
Suspension update: Added TMS camber plates

Alignment notes: I'll still need to get my alignment formally done so I'm not 100% sure what camber is at now, but it fully clears under compression.

The plates are supposed to add -1.75 over stock BUT I also maxed out positive adjustment on the shock tower when I reinstalled everything.
With my M3 CAs, I should theoretically be somewhere between -2.5 to -2.7 as she sits now, but I won't know for sure until i get it to an alignment shop.

Update 2:
Came in with the car at -2.6 in the front from the newly installed parts and my previous dirty alignment

Final Specs:
Front: -2.8; 0.24 total toe in
Rear: -2.1; 0.32 total toe in

You're going to have trouble making that fit up front.

It sounds like OP will need more front camber, at least.

Is it contact to the fendr that’s an issue? I was originally aiming for an offset that would maintain the same position on the inside of the wheel and simply push the face outward. But I only have about 10-15mm of space, pushing out by an inch is about 25mm.

Is there enough room between the suspension and inside face of the wheel to make up the difference in clearance?

Also, those running 255s on 18x9 wheels, do you have any pictures of your sidewall profile / stretch as it sits?

If you go with a somewhat rounded tire like a Conti DWS or Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 I think you'll be just fine. Worst case, you'd need to add Dinan camber plates. I have 18x9 et30 with 255/35 up front with Conti DWS and have loads of room. 5 more mm on either side wouldn't cause me any problems.

I just put on 9x18 ET26 wheels.
Quick test drive in the snow proved no rubbing so far.

Winter tires are 235/40.
I plan on 265/35 when summer comes.

I'm lowered, but I have -3 front camber and -2 rear camber.

I think you might want a little more width for stretch. We had a customer with a pre-lci sedan running 265 all around.

Without stating a specific offset for the 18 x 9 wheel, any conversation about whether or not it will fit is based on speculation.

As stated elsewhere, 18 x 9 +29 or +30 will easily accommodate a 265/35 tire in most cases up front and in the rear.

I run square 513M front F80 wheels, which are 18 x 9 +29 and 255/35 Michelin Pilot Sports All Season tires. I use a spacer in the rear with those sizes, and I have enough to go with a 265/35 tire if I want.

This is super reassuring to know, thanks for the insight

when I started the thread, I knew I wanted 18x9 ideally, but needed confirmation of if it was even possible, and if so, what offset would make it work. that’s why I hadn’t included offset in the OP

I ended up grabbing a set of 18x9 et30.
Going to mount this weekend, hoping the slight geometry change from m3 CA conversion doesn’t add it’s own set of issues

That's perfect and the M3 arms will help fitment.

I'd like to change my answer.
Some rubbing against the vented shield of 335-style oil cooler, front passenger wheel well. It only happens in reverse, under full steering lock.

Can also confirm that there was no rubbing when wheels were first mounted. Diagnosed as a result of spirited+ (jack@$$) driving on frozen snow-covered lake. Solveable.

Mine's the same way. 18x9 et30 Apex wheels with 255/35r18 and I rub the fender liners on both sides just slightly at near full lock. No rubbing on the fenders, bumper, or mounting bracket.

Thanks for all the information provided!

Went ahead and got my new set up on, ended up having to make a slight additional adjustment.

Gonna update the OP on this thread for easier reference in case anyone needs it in the future!
