Helmet - Yes or No for Nurburgring?
I may drive my new ED M3 at Nurburgring. I will NOT push it. I assume no helmet needed or even recommended.

Just because you're not pushing it doesn't mean those driving around you aren't (unless you have the track to yourself?)...I would definitely wear one on any track.

Not legally required...
I got my lap in (under break-in restrictions) early in the morning before the track got busy so I did not have a helmet.

@ Steve Gill: last month at Pistenclub in Nurburg I've talked with a finnish driver with a M3 e90 DKG tuned by Schirmer. Do you know him? I need to ask him some important information. Thx in advance |

I think I know the finnish driver as well, I met him in August at the ring - has BMW Performance seats in his e90? What do you need from Tom (Schirmer)? I can put you in touch if you like. |

yeahh!! with performance seats! This is his car I've talked a lot about some upgrade in his car. One of that is the 3.65 LSD. I remember that he has DCT, i want to ask him if Schirmer has reprogrammed software of DCT. His M3 e90 is very very fast at Nurburgring. Do you know if he has a Youtube's channel? |

I'm not sure if Schirmer did reprogramme the DCT, but the Team Schirmer vimeo page (youtube was limited to 10 minutes) is vimeo.com/teamschirmer, and the facebook page is facebook.com/teamschirmer if that helps?

I didn't use a helmet, I didn't bring one. If I had one with me I would have worn it. However, the lack of a helmet didn't slow me down

I was there today with my ED E92. Truly unbelievable experience. Beautiful weather with lots of sun and 300-400 cars in que to run the track! Even so the track didn't feel crowded at all. Lots and lots of carnage including 5 accidents while I ran my 4 laps (I would have stayed longer but they shut the track down to cleanup the mess).
No tech inspection, no insurance check, and absolutely no helmet required (however I missed having mine). Just show up, buy your pass, and hit the track. |
