Will there be a 2012 E92 M3?

I am now confused by the extra long 2011 model run and what I read here. Do we know or do we still speculate if there will be a 2012 E92 M3?

E90= Maybe. If it does (and I hope so that I can order one this Autumn) it will be a short production run.
E92= Yes
E93= Yes

My understanding is that the remainder of the production will all be MY2011 even into calendar year 2012.

Can't be. Since MY2011 started in Mar/Apr 2010 it has already spanned one January 1st. It will have to be a MY2012 for anything to go past December 31, 2011.

Nope, multiple "professional opinions" have been that all the remaining M3s will be 2011 and thats what I believe.

My CA told me this when I was placing the order on my car couple months ago. Turns out she is right

That's fine if true but it means there won't be any produced after December 31st, 2011...

42 USC 7521(b)(3)(A)

(i) The term “model year” with reference to any specific calendar year means the manufacturer’s annual production period (as determined by the Administrator) which includes January 1 of such calendar year. If the manufacturer has no annual production period, the term “model year” shall mean the calendar year.

In the United States the term and definition of "model year" is a subject of law related to the EPA.

CAFE regulations change for 2012. I'd assume this is the reason to have e9x run-out MY2011. We've heard elsewhere that e90 production stops 8/2011 so that should very much be MY2011. E92 ends summer 2012 so maybe Jan 1st to EOP will be MY2012? Whatever the case BMW is taking steps for CAFE 2012.

The E90 M3 most certainly ends as a 2011 model later this year. E92 M3 and E93 M3 will be available as 2012 models.

Best regards,
south

Do you mean it'll still be in production in the year 2012? Or will there be a 2012 model year e92/93 with changes?

South,

let me see if I understand...E90M3 will end as a 2011 MY car, new F30 sedan will start with MY2012.
E92/3 M3 will go on for MY2012 and 2013 as scheduled.

Thanks

My understanding from what is posted....

E90 m3 will be a 2011 model year till it's end of production which is fall of 2011.

E92 m3 will change to a 2012 model year in September of 2011 but it's end of production will be in 2012. No 2013 model year will be made.

My understanding of what South has said too.

I guess my confusion comes from what happens to the regualr E90 and E92/3 cars?
They are originally scheduled to run (E90) from MY 2006-MY 20120 and (E92/3) from MY 2007-MY2013.
So is BMW cutting its life cycle of the E9X cars by 1 year across the board?

^ Seems so.

But its seems like conflicting info that has been posted on E90post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450133

How can the E90 M3 and E90 3series end in fall of 2011 but then the new 3series wont be released till mid to late 2012? Perhaps the M3 and 3series just have different scheduling?

any update on this?...i just heard from one of my local dealers that he only has one 2011my e90 allocation left that can be customized to buyer spec...not sure how many 2011my e90 allocations he has total, but i'm guessig it's not many if he can only build one to spec...

that would seem to dismiss the notion that the 2011my e90 run will go deep into the summer or fall, right?...and assuming so, wouldn't that also mean that there has to be a 2012my e90 m3?
