Upgrading advice needed F32
So I just recently got my first BMW, 2019 440i xdrive coupe a few months ago. It's under warranty for 4 years but I don't mind doing some KW coilovers before.
Although I wasn't aware of the packages before buying so I didn't realize they can come with track package, variable steer and adaptive suspension. My question being, should I wait to find another model with the track package on it before modding the suspension and start tuning/ adding mppsk? Will it make that much of a difference if I want to start tracking it without the track package? Or secondly, would waiting for a spec I like in an M4 F82 be more logical to track before spending any money on this car? Last edited by billieseng; 04-09-2024 at 01:29 AM.. |

It depends on what you want out a car. As a former M4 owner, it was a great car, but costs more to maintain. I found myself not using a fraction of what the car offered as a daily driver, I traded it for a 430i which suits my needs much better.

The Track Handling Package comes with adaptive suspension, the blue brakes, and stickier summer tires, and VSS. IMO it’s not really needed for a street car, however putting the KW’s shouldn’t be an issue as those are normal coilovers.
Regarding tracking an xDrive, it’s really up to you as it won’t be as dynamic as an M car or a RWD car in general. Is this your only car? If so, I wouldn’t recommend tracking it as it requires a ton of money to upkeep and tracking tends to be brutal on the paint. |

For everyday driving probably no point the ride will be terrible, if you are planning on taking your car on a track throughout the year then this might be a good option. I’d probably wait to get a car that already has upgraded kit on it.

THP also comes with an extra oil cooler in addition to what space_2001 mentioned.
Keep in mind insurance doesn't cover if you wreck your car at a track. The THP isn't necessary but it helps. If you want to track your car you're better off getting an M4 and keep the 440i as a daily or get a different daily if having both isn't an option. If you keep your 440i and track it just upgrade the suspension and brakes and you'll be fine. |

I have a '17 F32 with KW Street coilovers. I have already replaced my rear dampers due to leakage in less than 2 years. I do not track at all. They are ok for daily use, but I have been told many times that the best bet is to go the Billstein route. My car feels good, but I am not very confident in its longevity.
Also, I would suggest adjustable end links to help with the car being lower. SPL is a great brand. I have them installed and it has helped.
