Turner Motorsport Skidplate

Finally got around to installing my Turner Motorsport Aluminum Skidplate.

A couple notes, it was pretty easy to get the original OEM plastic off, which was filthy. I also noticed (see pictures) that it was already cracked in a non-trim bolt location from some strike along the way.

Additionally, while Turner provided the trim screws to replace the existing ones they didn’t provide any of the brackets, so I had to transfer those over (fine but less than desirable).

Anyways for the pictures:

Overall very happy considering I was nervous having watched a couple undercarriage strikes recently with lower clearance cars.

Love my turner skid plate, I also changed out my oil cooler with a mishimoto as my OEM one was bent.

I just came across this thread, and found it amusing. As I just installed my Turner Motorsport Aluminum Skid Plate on Tuesday. And I have to say, that this skid plate is as thick as the OE subframe's stiffening plate. And, I know that it can take a hit and protect that all important oil cooler. As this is cheap insurance, just knowing that I wont be another statistic sitting on the side of the road waiting for a flatbed truck. The one good thing that I really liked, was that it had a good rubber seal, sealing the skid plate to the bottom of the oil cooler. You can see the black seal in the third photo.

But the thing that disappointing me was that, it didn't come with any screws or bolts nor installation instructions. But was simple enough that any monkey could figure it out.

And while, I was in there I installed a shinny Mosselman Oil Thermostat and a Mishimoto Oil Catch Can

The lack of hardware is semi-surprising but seems to be common. I agree with you that the rubber surround is a great feature.

Yuille36

Is that lift in your personal garage (at home)?

Waiting to install I have the mishimoto oil catch can and a CSF oil cooler upgrade.

What’s your experience with the Mosselman Oil Thermostat?

I just bought a turner skid plate for my F30 which I have lowered on a B14 suspension. Which scrapes a bit on the front, so will install as soon as it arrives.

A couple pounds. The plastic is pretty weight-less.

Per Turner: 5 lbs total weight, only 3 lbs more than the plastic OE

No, this lift was at Benz Elite Automotive in Fairfax, VA. This is where I get all my services done for all my vehicles. So far the Mosselman Oil Thermostat is working as advertised, it definitely lowers oil temps by 20 degrees.
You can see the lower oil temps on the dash, before my temps were at or above the first tick in the cluster, now it is below the first tick. As you know our engine run hot period, so anything that you can do to lower temperatures is a good thing, whether it be engine coolant, charge cooler, engine oil or transmission fluid etc. is a good thing.
The Mosselman Oil Thermostat was first developed to cope with the high oil temps from owners running their cars on the track, but it helps in everyday traffic as well.
But, I bought the Turner Motorsports Oil Skid Plate, as my car is lower on EMD Springs. And my front lip is about 2" off the ground, and I didn't want my oil cooler taking a hit in everyday traffic or road trips, thereby leaving me stranded on the side of the road waiting for road side assistance.

Nice CF trims up front! Glad you got some protection underneath for the oil cooler.

With the car being so low, it just made good sense to protect that all important oil cooler.
Because that is the one thing that will definitely leave you stranded on the side of the road.
And the nice piece of carbon, always turn heads, whether you're driving the car or it's parked.

Unless you track the car, you don't want the Mosselman - it's going to prevent your oil from reaching boiling and evaporating the excess moisture in your lines which can cause damage.

Well, I kept the original oil thermostat just in case I need to revert back.

So we're clear, it's not damage to the thermostat. All the excess water not burning off can create acids mixing from combustion by products and damage things like your bearings.

I'm not worried about this in the slightest. Mosselman has been manufacturing high-quality performance parts designed specifically for BMW and Mini's for 40 years.
I'm sure their products have gone thru an extensive designed, testing process. And that their aware that not all BMW owners will be tracking there cars, so they made allowances for that in the design of the oil thermostat.
Besides that oil will still get plenty hot, to evaporate any water that maybe in the oil. And if there was an issue with this part, their would have been many posts discussing this issue. So, I'm not concerned.

Those painted deflectors clean up the car so well.
I believe that IND Distribution sells them, and will look into it. Thanks

Mine aren't paint matched inserts, this is a full euro bumper. Notice that there are no gaps/seams
