Oil Pressure gauge advice.
Hi guys, I recently installed two Defi gauges in my M4(f82). Boost and oil pressure. Boost is up and running, however tapping off an oil line is proving to be a bit more challenging. Has anyone successfully achieved this. My first plan was to come out of the top of the oil thermostat replacing one of the blanking plugs with one I bought with a 1/8 NPT thread in it,(supplied by MMR). However this is very close to the underside of the bonnet, and I`m a little reluctant to fit it there.
My second idea was to use AN fittings with an M20 banjo off the same port of the thermostat, clearance under the bonnet is better but there is very little room to navigate/route the hose throughout the already very busy area. The only other option I can think of is to t-off one of the oil radiator hoses. Either by splitting the hose and adding a `T` or making a sandwich plate that fits between the hose connection and the radiator. Google is coming up with nothing, it seems like nobody has attempted this, or at the least, not shared their experience. I’ve attached a picture of what I’ve done. Tim. |
