2019 440 Suspension Warranty Coverage

I had tires replaced at the dealer and when they performed an alignment they stated that they could not get the front camber (in red) into specification and that a new strut/knuckles was required. They quoted me $3,200 in parts and $1,500 in labor ($4,700 total NOT including another alignment) and was not covered by warranty even though there was no visible damage. Car has 32,000 miles and about 4 months of new car warranty left. Does this seem correct or should I go to another dealer for a second opinion?

That's a load of crap. Should definitely be covered. Take it to another dealer or an independent shop

You should definitely get a second opinion. Suspension warranty work is tricky, because it is subject to so much wear and tear. Good luck.

Literally have the same scenario as you but with a 2017 340i. My adaptive front right strut is leaking, I have a dealer appointment for Wednesday morning. Car has 34k miles and 4 months of new car warranty left. Hopefully, my dealer does not pull this kind of card on me.

Hang in there! I'll keep you posted with what my dealer says on Wednesday morning. Would be annoyed if they deny it under the new car warranty.

My service Advisor has informed me that this will be covered under the new car warranty. New front right strut should be installed and alignment completed either by end of day today or tomorrow. The dealer tech working on my car sent me a video of the strut leaking pretty badly. Looked like the thing exploded and they covered it. If yours has no visible damage unlike mine than I think it should be covered try another service center.

Zero reason why this would not be covered. Find a new dealership.

Agree with the others, this should be covered. Brought my 2018 F32 in this week w/32,000 mi to get looked at because I could hear a slapping sound in the front end when traveling low speed over bumps and they replaced both front struts under warranty.

That's the correct outcome. Glad to hear that you didn't have any issues with the new car warranty.

Thank you all for your feedback. I finally was able to make it to another dealer and they were willing to fight for me and got the new strut covered under the factory warranty. Glad I went for the second opinion and confirms my suspicions about the other dealer as this is not the first time I have had something like this happen to me there.

It's refreshing to see these problems resolved the way they should have been resolved in the first place. Great outcome.

Agreed, although it is detestable that anyone should have to "fight" to get a warranty repair effected.
