Msport brake and wheel fitment
Hey guys, sorry for a question that has likely been asked before, but I'm getting conflicting information from my dealer.
I have a 2015 335xi with the Msport blue calipers, and the 442m style 19" rims. Great for summer, but I'm wanting to get a separate set of winters. I was originally going to use the 18" ellipsoid style 162 rims from my old e90, which the dealer said would work, even though I had my doubts, and of course, they didn't. The blue calipers kept smacking into the inner face of the rim. I just bought a used set of 19" style 403m rims that are in great shape, as I know they were another potential option for the 2015 F30s. Would these fit with the blue M brakes? I assume it would, but am a little hesitant. I've seen pics with the 403m rims and blue brakes online, but a lot seemed to be from European models, or I wasn't sure if they had spacers in them or not? The 2015 ordering guide says the 2NH option (Msport brakes) required ordering either 441m, 442m or 397 style rims, 2 of which are only 18". It did not mention 403m, even though it is also a 19" M rim. I just don't know if they said that because of fitment issues, or simply because it just wasn't a possible configuration from the factory when placing the order. Thanks guys. Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

Thanks Dan, always loved the BMW wagons, nice car.
I was also curious as I had read somewhere that the caliper sizes on the Msport brakes differ between the 320, 328 and 335, so not sure if that becomes a factor as well. Mind you, as far as I know, the red M performance brakes you have are slightly bigger than the blue Msport ones anyway, so maybe that nets out to the same thing? |

Likewise the rear 2-piston Brembo calipers in blue, red, orange and yellow are all the same over 345mm x 24mm rotors. BMW overuses (& confuses) it's "M Sport" marketing term. The BMW 400M 18" wheels in either 8.0" or 8.5" widths all fit over the above front and rear brakes. 17" wheels will not fit. Anyone buying used F3x calipers, it's important to note that there is a 4-piston Brembo Caliper that is almost identical that comes in blue or grey. See photo. It only fits over 340mm x 30mm rotors. They are easy to spot because the rear of the caliper casting says "340". 17" wheels will fit over these front brakes. In fact the 340 and 370 calipers take the exact same size and part number for brake pads. That also adds confusion when purchasing MSport or non-MSport pad sets. The front pads in both sets are identical. It's the rear pads that differ based on which rear caliper you have. Hope this helps someone! |

Are you set on going with OE wheels?
I got my winter setup through Tire Rack and the 18" Rial X10 wheel fit over my blue MSport brakes just fine. |

Thanks everyone, appreciate all the feedback.
Would have preferred to go with the 18" 400ms as a winter rim with all the potholes and everything, but couldn't find any decent used ones in my area at the time. Snow is on the way, so the 403s will have to do! |

It's close (diameter wise) but my 370mm orange M Performance brakes fit fine under the OE Style 397 wheels (18"):

Any 18" wheel and up made for the F30 will fit the blue M Sport brakes. 397, 398, 400, 441, 403, etc.
My car came stock with the M Sport brakes option and 397 wheels. I currently have orbit grey 441 wheels. |
