BMW 330i - Can it be repaired or does it need to be totaled

I was driving my friends BMW the other day and got into an accident near a T intersection near the highway from 156 getting onto 101. I was trying to get into a small window on the opposite side and a car sped up from the left side and the front of the BMW grazed against the other vehicle and got dragged pretty bad. I have attached a pic of the damage. Can the car be repaired (insurance will pay for it) or does it need to be totaled. Its a very new lease, about 2 months old. I feel like such as ass!

I'd hope for a total loss, personally. If there is door damage then I'd say it is at least close to a total loss. It really depends which shop appraises it.

With the hood, fender, basically the whole front end, probably the wheel, and anything else not visible in this pic, I'm gonna guess it's totaled. Year/model/mileage on the car would help get a better educated guess, but really, the adjuster is the only one to make that final determination.

I hope you have good coverage. Is the owner still your friend?

Edit: just saw the title of the post. 330i...good chance it's going bye bye.

Toodles, noodles. The front end of that car can eclipse 50% of the total cost very quickly. Best to find some money to pay that deductible and start the hunt for a replacement.

Wow that really really sucks. Was anyone hurt?

You better pray the car is totaled and that your friend put zero down on the lease or it's going bye-bye!!!

This is the stuff of nightmares for people that put a lot of money down on leases. Only after 2 months. Sheesh.

This is my fear and reason I don't let people drive my car unless it's an emergency lol
Hope it gets totaled. Good luck!

Ah the bay area, where merging is where every passive-aggressive personality comes out.
Amazing how people insist on right of way and force others into a wall. I had an AMG do that to me once.

Given it's only 2 months old... it might end up being repaired. The fender, nose, hood and maybe wheel and suspension are pricey but it's amazing what insurance companies fix.
