What is your car's name?
I have always named my vehicles (always a female name.) For me, BMW's are naturally named after a German woman.
I'll start My e38 is Gretel My e92 M3 is Wilhelmina Does anyone else do this? What is the German female name of your ride? |

I don't name my cars, so I've always wondered: When do you use these names you've given your cars?
When you go out to lunch with co-workers, do you say "Let's go for pizza. I'll drive. We can take Gretchen." Or do you say to your wife "I'm going to the hardware store. I'll take Helga." I can't think of a situation where I wouldn't feel silly using a name for a car in conversation. |

^That's the whole point...it's all for fun and being silly for me. My wife and I both get a good laugh about it. Matter of fact, my friends are the same way. Can't be serious all the time, otherwise we'll live a dull and boring life.

It's not to be taken too seriously. It is just for personal preference and nothing more.
It kind of give your car a name to go along with it's "personality". If you don't believe your car has a "personality", then you are not a car enthusiast IMHO.

Ever since we've used talking GPSs, whether owned personally or rented (think Hertz NeverLost), my wife and I yell back at them after the typical repetitions they make, "Shaddup Bit**!" Since then we've taken to calling our GPSs "Bit**" and now we refer to the BMW with its built in voice as "Bit**."

I used to name my cars back in H.S. Now they're all named "Piece of Shit", "Fucking Piece of Shit", "Bitch", "Stupid Bitch", or "Fucking Bitch"...anything along those lines...it's all out of love, really.

To me it is just a car and certainly nothing to which I feel enough attachment to give it a name. While I do enjoy driving my M3 it is just one of many cars I'll own in my lifetime.
