Nabbed for emissions sticker NB Canada
Hi,
just wondering if anyone has experience fighting this type of ticket or trying to get a reduced fine? Lots of info online about Ontario but very little about NB. Essentially my situation, spot checked at an entrance to the highway in Oromocto and explained that I need an emission sticker....first I have heard of it from anyone official, no mention at the svc NB kiosk when I re-registered and replated the car almost a year ago. Since then I was in Alberta oct-may and then on a military course may to until a couple weeks ago. In the past year and a half I have lived in 3 provinces, suffice to say that if Ignorance was a defence I feel I would have a case. My car by the way has a valid emissions test within the last year...just in the province of Ontario... I plan on getting it done first thing tomorrow as well as get a copy of my ontario one faxxed up to me. RCMP officer was very polite and professional though inflexible for something that seems to me to be as easy as...oh you didn't know, now you do please get it done and consider this a warning. Makes no difference to them aside from maybe a ticket quota but that's $170 more to me which seems steep for what ought to be a $15 fix it ticket in my eyes... Only upside were these... 1. Tinted windows were already rolled down (20% I believe all around) 2. since it was a blind corner I was pretty much ambushed and my Escort went nuts so I unplugged asap and cop never even noticed it, when told to pull ahead and over I sneakily took it down, tucked my hardwire cord into the ceiling and phew, hundreds more dollars saved. 3. She did compliment me on my vehicle...but still fined me

I used to live in NB back in '95, and I remember requiring an inspection sticker that you placed on your windshield, and that you needed to get this renewed yearly, or every two years. I wouldn't think you would need an emissions test for a 2012, but again wouldn't surprise me as a money grab.
In my experience being pulled over a hand full of times, a female cop will never let you go with just a warning or reduced fine. I wonder if others have similar experiences... |

Sorry to hear.
Things like this are always just a fix-it ticket in California. There has to be something you can do to fight it or receive a reduced fine. |

After speaking with a cop family friend we think its best to plead guilty with an explanation and try for a reduced fine.
its not actually emissions but just an overall inspection in this province...which my car failed badly with its 20% tint all around and the fronts were getting to replacement times. Ohwell, expensive month This is my fourth time in life being pulled over or having any interaction with police for my car...incidentally all started after getting this car this time last year hehe First three times male(no ticket or anything), this time female...not sure it made a difference but there was another officer there and it was an organized "we have nothing to do on a Sunday in this community so lets do spot checks". In hind sight I doubt they would let me go given that they have the peer pressure of another officer. Just to avoid the situation of the other officer saying why did you let him go, he had no sticker.
