I have a DIY, without oil cooler. It has a link to the oil cooler part. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=791674&page=2

There are others. Search the DIY forum.

Read through the DIY - lots of comments from people who did it, including how much time it took them and problems they encountered.

OP if you have the oil cooler I would replace the oil lines O rings and the heat exchanger gasket as well as the OFHG.
As far as doing this the tough part for me was the getting the bolts on and off the heat exchanger. When I do this again I will pull the radiator fan which makes the job much much easier. Also if your air filter has never been removed you will be tugging on a lot of the rubber bushing holding that on. You also do not need to pull the intake manifold off to get to the 3rd torx bolt but you do need to pull it back. That means you do not need to pull the throttle body, I didn't and it was fine leaving it on.
I drained a couple quarts of antifreeze out and didn't change the oil as it was not necessary as my leak was minor and the gasket had not failed to the point of shedding rubber bits...

BMW Oil Cooler Seal - CRP 17222245358 $0.95
You need two of them and I bought 4 just in case.
I think all the main vendors we have carry them...

When pulling rad pipe from OFH, do it slowly.
Inside the pipe, there is a plastic washer, and it goes on reversed also, so note which way it was facing, mine piped out and had to guess, how it went back in.... Thank god I was right.

Also, when the gasket is done and rad hose to OFH is connected.... Then start squeezing that hose repeatedly..... You will be surprised on how much coolant drains out.

I got 6 liters out.

Also, when running the 12 min water pump cycle, do it twice... I did and no issues.

when connecting the coolant hose back to the ogh, you will find it to be somewhat challenging, (at least I did) try not to remove and insert, then remove and insert too much because the edges of the hose begin to slough off (peel off) which can fall inside the hose and contaminate/or clog you coolant system. just try to place once and push hard side to side until it sits snug. just my 02.cents

Oil Filter Housing Gasket.

Here's a link to a PDF with some common acronyms. Ironically OFHG is not in there.

haha, thanks man.. As for the oil filter adapter gasket I had to change mine when I first bought my car. Got kinda freaked out from the price the dealer quoted. Ended up fixing it myself. Very easy job and took me maybe an hour.

Get my wife e90 fixed last Sunday. Cost me around 10 buck for new gasket and an hour of my time with couple cold Guinness and a cigar... so total cost roughly 20 bucks
