The "noise" is present when I open the doors and also when the engine is on. It also does not change tone.

Could it be the ground you are using for your amp? maybe use some test calbe and see if a direct ground (and or feed +12V) clears up the static noise. ?

I took the time to plug the OEM ampifier back in and there is the same eeeeeeee...tick...eeeeeeeee...tick noise, but more quiet. It is definetly not the amplifier or a ground/power cable issue. The problem is with the Head Unit. I'll see what BMW has to say about it on Monday since I'm due for service and the battery is being replaced due to a recall.

So I just went in for service yesterday and they did fix the noise issue. According to the report, they replaced the amplifier, but this did not resolve the issue. They then replaced the Head Unit and this did resolve the problem. My sound system is now noise free. Now I just have to put my JL Audio amp back in.

I had the problem, it went away. Then came back last week. Strangely enough this happened after I had a flat tire on my rear driver side tire fixed. There was another thread where someone was complaining about a noise and it was related to the golf tee mod. My car didn't have this mod, but maybe it related since the vacuum line for the is located behind the rear driver side tire. I really don't see how this could be the source of the problem since I hear the sound even when the car isn't running after I put the key in the ignition. It's definitely coming from the speakers. Even if the radio isn't on I hear the sound. I first had the problem show up after the dealer did a firmware upgrade to my stereo (was having problems with no sound coming out of the stereo). The the problem mysteriously went away. I tried shutting off Bluetooth, but that didn't make any difference.

Short of taking back to the dealer I really don't have any good ideas. I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Thanks

Could you please post a sanitized copy of your repair order/invoice from the dealer?

Now that a few months have passed, has the issue remained resolved? Still silent after the JL re-installation? This is one of the few outstanding issues I have with my stereo install.

Oh sorrry, I have been off the boards for a while. No the problem has not returned. Replacing the head unit fix it. I'll see if I can find the repair report.
