Strut tower - need help

Hello!

I’ve been having some squeaking coming from my rear passenger side for the last couple weeks. I was told from my mechanic that I needed new struts (I run bilstein b8 shocks) and I purchased 2 new rear shocks, installed them but still have the noise. It’s like a squeaking/ chirping noise but it does not start until I turn left, but continues forever after that. I pulled the shock again this morning and noticed that the shock is pushed up against the side of the strut mount. Could this be causing the squeaking? Has the strut mount failed? (The old shock I pulled out before was also pushed off to the side). Ive attached a picture of what it looks like. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as this mysterious noise has been bothering me for 3 weeks now.

Thank you

Shock top mounts are cheap. Buy a set and replace them, just in case. However, this reads like wheel bearings.
Raise the car off the ground with the tires on, and hold a rear wheel at the 3 and 9 o'clock position. Try to move the wheel back and forth. Repeat this test at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. Does the wheel have play? If yes, it's wheel bearings.

already replied in the other thread - tried this and there's no play. The car has been in storage since September. It was just pulled out a couple weeks ago and has been making the noise ever since. I ordered strut mounts this morning so we will see how it goes tomorrow when they arrive.

Bilstein B6/B8 shocks should have pretty good durability/life.

Other possibility?: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1834063

I am installing the new strut tower today. Either way it needed to be replaced as both times I pulled that shock after installing (and the shock was centered when installed) it was way off to the side. I believe the bushing inside the strut tower failed. My next idea was to try the lower control arm/ spring perch bushing that’s pressed into the hub. The weird part is the noise only starts when I turn left. But after I make a left turn the noise continues the whole time. Only other option other than the lower bushing could be a loose ebrake cable that is rubbing against something but I can replicate the noise at a stand still by pushing on the trunk of the car so I suspect it’s suspension related.

UPDATE:

Replaced strut tower. Only had time to take the car for a 10 minute test drive. Did not get a single squeak/ chirp at all. Taking it to get an alignment next week and we will see if the noise pops back up at any time until then but for anyone who is getting that noise, check your strut towers.
