Looks like you need some rust remover for the bottom right screw on the gas pedal. I use CLR, works great and doesn't stain or damage anything.

Bought a new shifter - classic knob, from the F8x with illumination.

Bit pricey, but it'll refresh an important aspect of the interior & add a nice touch.
I thought about the M-Perf shifter options, but I love the traditional look.

Picture post when it arrives

Interesting!! I have some surface rust on that exact screw too! Bottom right, only on it! Haven‘t gottena round to clean it and think of a good way to seal it.

But your experience with them being stubborn to remove is on par with my research. I was almost thinking of buying the right size hole saw drill bit and completely coring out the bushings. Still may do this. I like over-planning ^_^

Yeah that’s the dummy screw, it apparently isn’t stainless steel/coated properly like the 3 real ones because it rusts every winter. Fortunately you can clean it off, just be proactive about it and it shouldn’t be an issue.

Ah, that explains the difference! Now that you said it I remembered that not all 4 were real. It has been a while since I installed it.
Will clean it soon but am thinking of putting some clearcoat on top to seal it… especially since it is not a functional screw, it wouldn’t matter really,

Installed the Alpha One amp into the F31 that left the factoy with the HiFi system.

It’s pretty good. Clearer, crisper, louder. Decent difference for just an amp. Biggest problem is now I’m tempted to do some speaker upgrades.

Installed an aftermarket 15” screen, upgrade from the 10.25”, and I’m loving it! Recently put a couple new trim pieces too. And of course gave it a good wash. BTW, Chemical Guys Black Magic soap is amaaaazing!

Next step is a paint correction and then put on a replacement carbon fiber lip

“Installed an aftermarket 15” screen, upgrade from the 10.25”, and I’m loving it!“. Nice job!
I see you have a 2016. So do I. I installed a v4.1 head unit and had it coded to upgrade to Apple Car Play. How did you do it? Which 15 in. screen did you install? Did it need to be coded? Also, more pictures please, of the mounting area and from the front of the car.

This looks like an aftermarket solution. It’s not an OEM solution like you did.

Yes, I have a nice install. Everything works and looks normal. This was my third Apple Car Play attempt:
1 - My original head unit, v. 2.3, was coded over the web. It kept crashing and the backup camera display was intermittent. Luckily, the coder was able to restore the original ID4 program.
2 - I bought a v. 4.1 head unit off eBay. It arrived with a cd inside. I installed it but the new coder said it was defective.
3 - The eBay seller exchanged the head unit with another v.4.1 head unit. Third time’s the charm - it worked.

Words of caution for those attempting this:
- There are European v. 4.1 head units showing up on eBay. I was told they won’t receive Sirius XM.
- I bought a 25 amp. Stanley charger from Amazon to keep the battery charged during coding. It worked well.

I can’t say enough about Straight Six Auto parts on eBay. I bought the head unit from them. Their price was reasonable (for a used head unit!) and they stuck with me through my issues. If you’re interested in doing this I would contact them to see if they have the part, even if it isn’t listed.

Codemybimmer was awesome. Steve checked out several head unit listings for me until he found a good one. The coding to ID6 went well.

My only problem is that Automatic Map Updates is now synced to the new head unit’s original region, not mine, and I was unable to change it. BMW Connected Drive opened a case to resolve the issue.

I updated the GPS map in the replacement head unit by myself. I bought the latest map online and installed it with a USB drive.

You don't need coding to install those aftermarket android screens, as they are not running from the head unit itself. They come with a wiring harness that splits the quadlock harness on the vehicle. They do not integrate with the car as well as OEM solution (for example, HUD doesn't show information that it otherwise would, such as the current song playing).

Installed BlackLine aluminum paddles and black gloss shifter cover and parking button. Really really loving the way the oyster interior looks with the gloss black accents and carbon trim.

Thanks. It was this one here:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mr7Y19U

Pretty simple and straightforward, connects to the head unit and you can still switch to the NBT menu from it. Runs off of Android and has wireless Apple CarPlay, no coding needed. Mount is built in and connects to the same 2 screws as the OEM screens
