Andream MMI Box - Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto

Yes - It was tested by a few others in this thread and was found to be only compatible with units purchased through Bimmertech running bimmertech firmware and software.

My car has the base stereo setup, and I was hoping to add an amp. However the amp also connects with a quadlock, so I'm wondering how that would work, now that I also have an Andream box connected? Does anyone know if this is even possible?

what thread are you on about? not seen anything that points to those issues?

i also wont be connecting my phone to the android unit ill just download spotify from the playstore direct on unit. phone will connect to BMW idrive

I believe you are talking about the android screens from china? If so, buying them from a UK vendor is possible, however you are just paying double for the same screen that you can get on aliexpress.

All of these screens, any vendor or brand, have the same issues and same bugs such as the typo's i pointed out.

Not saying they are bad, apparently they look great (quality wise).

I got a little over enthusiastic in trying the firmware upgrade on my unit without thinking through the implications.

My MMI box is hardware type BMW_CIC and I have fitted it in a 2010 Z4 E89 - it was working fine but with a few bugs which I wanted to upgrade to get rid of. Now I can force flash it but don't have the right software.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice or software for my version or can point me where I might find some.

Since I have been getting a lot of questions and have done lots of troubleshooting with customers I have come up with a guide of sorts. The info provided by suppliers is far from comprehensive and is bits and pieces.

This is by no means an official guide, and I am more than happy to edit it and take on board suggestions.

My car has no microphone, I was told by andream that the unit comes with a microphone on the power cable. Is this true?
Anyone else had this problem, or do I have to start looking for an external mic?

There’s no “power cable”. It takes power from a NBT. Get a mic.

Section F could do with a tweak. It reads to suggest that the microphone loom is required in all installations which isn't the case.

It also references that a test will be completed in section G however section G is the WiFi antenna connection.

I'd suggest reordering to explain when the mic loom would be used, the test to check whether it's required and then installation instructions.

So i just wanted to let you guys know Andream is selling a box now for 2017-2018 BMW Evo, basically compatible with I drive 5 and idrive 6. I hooked it up yesturday works great , just missing equalizer at this point. Maybe they will come with an update.

Surly if you had office 5 or 6 you would just get real car play? Or am I missing something

Are you using Carplay or Android Auto? Wondering if the Android Auto screen resolution is any better than on ID4.

My Andream unit didn't come with a microphone but don't all f3x cars have a microphone for the hands free?

I have an E60, this thread is the only one I found for these units.

handandy I think we have similar systems, do you have a photo of the cables you received? Did your car have a mic?
