Anyone here do voluntary work?

I was fortunate to be able to retire at 55. One of the things that I've been passionate about is animal charities, particularly dogs. Being able to do exactly what I want with my time, means I can spend time volunteering for a dog charity that is close to my heart.
This particular charity, Doggy Dens UK rescue, brings abandoned dogs, primarily but not exclusively, from Macedonia and finds them homes in the UK.
The dogs are often extremely undernourished, and sometimes abused. It's not uncommon in Macedonia for stray dogs to be shot. For those interested, the link to the website is below -

https://doggydensukrescue.co.uk/

I currently have two dogs. A cocker spaniel that we've had from 7 weeks old (now 13 years old), and a three year old Kooikerhondje who we rescued two years ago. Mid April we have another rescue dog coming to us from Macedonia.
Some of the pictures I could show you of the state of the dogs that come to the charity, would make a grown man cry. I despaire at mans inhumanity to animals.

If you feel you want to make a small donation, please do so via the link. You may just save a dogs life.

Our rescue.

100% I do, I’m an elected Independent Parish Councillor. Causes me all kinds of grief

I also run one of the biggest social media groups for the community as well which kind of opened the door to become a councillor.

Looking to retire in a couple of months and have some volunteering work lined up with a heritage railway to keep me in some sort of routine.

Great to hear. Retirement is what you make of it, and can be the best time of your life.

I've been into the dogging since retirement....
Specifically Guide Dogs
Currently have 2 Guide Dog pups at home with us, although one will be going to Advanced Training next month.
Very satisfying bringing on a pup from 8 weeks old to 16 months to become a life changer.
Tears shed when they go....but you just get another (I'm on number 5)
No such thing as a quick shop though....they are a Chick Magnet!

And I'm a Trustee for our Community Car that we buy and run to transport the old folk (!) around.
