Hi Shawn.

I am about to pick up a cable, and was wondering whether you could please send the relevant links to begin coding a couple of small items to the VO.

Have a 09/2014 F31

Thanks
Feng.

Shawn, are the F20 and F30 files the same? I accidentally put F20 in my request instead of F30.

Your I-step is 52.5 and you appeared to have coded it correctly.

What are you doing to try to activate launch control? Some people don't know that the car has to been driven for at least 6km before you can try using it.

Hi all.

I am busy working through this huge thread, so forgive me if I ask redundant questions in the mean time.

As part of my Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, I have been given a 2012 328i. No VIN no warranty no strings attached. In 2014 I developed autonomous driver algorithms that as output yield required throttle/brake and steering angle to follow a predetermined path at a predetermined speed profile. These algorithms are validated and tested.

My task now is to control this vehicle autonomously using existing sensors and actuators. This refers to the electric power steering, active brake controllers and active throttle control.

I am in the process of attaining a dSpace MicroAutoBox II with flex ray modules, this will however cost a small fortune. My question therefore is; apart from changing settings like seat belt beep and side mirror retraction etc, what else can I achieve with E-sys? Can I completely turn off all driver aids? Can I control EPS, Brakes or throttle, or atleast recode how they work?

Can I attain real time data from sensors?

Lots of questions, sorry guys, but all help is well appreciated.

Here is a link to a press release RE the vehicle

Regards
Brett

BMW made changes to PSdZData beginning with 54.2 and expanded upon in 54.3, that makes FDL Coding of many ECU's impossible. For now, try and stick with 54.1.

Hi guys,

coded a F10 today and ran into some problems. Tried to get the trunk to close by key fob or the button in the footwell in combination with folding mirrors. The mirrors work, but now the power tailgate does not even function :-(

I have a feeling my problem is...I would read the VO(FA), then activate it right away, code the ECU's, save, and the code the FDL. Instead I should wait to activate FA until after I save the changed coding, before coding the FDL. Comments?

Would this cause the engine light to come on? It is and it will not go away!

One more question...if I did not save a backup of my original CAFD files, can I still revert back to default values across all ECU's?

Thanks in advance!

If I copy over my original downloaded psdzdata folder onto my laptop, and read the FA and VCM, will everything be reverted back to original settings?

Just trying to figure out how to start all over.

It does not matter when exactly you activate FA, so long as it is activated prior to coding ECU. I personally activate FA as soon as I read it from car, or after I edit it in FA Editor and load FA into coding module.

Does your HKFM have CAFD with Green Dot next to it?

It is hard to guess exactly what has gone wrong in your case. I would reset the ECU's you coded by VO Coding them. That is to load original FA, and right-click on each ECU (the ECU itself and not the underlying CAFD) that you coded, and select Code (not Code FDL).

If you want, I can connect with TeamViewer and look at the car.

Yes, so long as CAFD is from 54.1 or earlier, but as ECU's receive new Firmware, older CAFD will not be compatible with newer SWFL, thus impossible to inject.

The HKFM allows me to read it, make the changes and also code the fdl with no errors. It just disables the trunk power now, weird.

By loading original FA, do you mean not loading my saved file, and just hitting the read FA button? I never saved my original FA, just made the deletion of 5AP and 8S4.

I assume we need a network connection for Teamviewer, unfortunately we do not have that here.

I'll PM you with further information to possibly use Teamviewer.

Thanks!!!!!

If you never modified FA and wrote it to the car, then the car still has original FA in it, and you can just read FA from the car.
