Diff Noise, please help
I posted this over on f30post, with no response in a couple of days. I also have an e90 m3 and know there are many of you that are knowledgeable and may be able to help. TIA.
2013 335i Msport, 78K miles, Auto trans, standard open diff. I have had what I thought were wheel bearing noises when driving. Typical humming that sounds like tire noise, but the tires are close to new. So I get the car on quick jacks to inspect. No play when shaking down the wheels, no noise coming from the wheels when rotating by hand. I did, however, notice some noise coming from the diff and captured a video. It definitely does not sound normal to me, looking for some feedback from you all: https://youtube.com/shorts/b4iGT35iZzA |

This is for E9X M3s. Your 335i open diff is different.
That being said. Your issue is NORMAL. The video you posted is turning the spider gears in the carrier--which are straight-cut gears.
