CAI's: Actual Gains or just Eye Candy?
Been looking into a CAI since having done headers/exhaust and Epic tune, wondering if the CAIs are actually any better than the stock airbox (aside from something like the CF CSL boxes). Read around that the aftermarket drop-in filters are just a pain with little if any gains.
I've heard "hot-air" intake thrown around, I was wondering if anyone has any solid figures (intake temps or dyno graphs that actually isolate the CAI would be awesome...) Thanks Guys, Steve

I had one for several years before supercharging. No gains, no losses. Look elsewhere for performance. Sound on the other hand...

Purely eye/ear candy. They are worth it if you're a sound fiend but otherwise it's really nothing to get gains out of.
Most original air intakes are designed well enough with the car that it really wont change anything unless they were absolutely crap to begin with. The E85/86's have a solid OEM build. |
