I'd go exhaust. Pop a x-pipe in there and you'll have a new car all over again...

I do like the raspy sound of the performance exhaust.

Yes the BMW performance exhaust is expensive and not visually as pleasing as a akra slip on, but it is made of lightweight material + OEM, cant go too wrong on that front. Anyway in answer to the OP's question, go the exhaust.. you will notice it more than a set of new wheels on your car.

I will just throw out another exhaust mod option .... Challenge x-pipe with Dinan exhaust and ESS tune. I just finished all of this and it transforms the car. All for the price of a full Akra Evo without the tune. As soon as the exhaust system breaks-in I am going to try to get a decent video to capture the sound.

I'll be the crazy guy in the thread that says go do a HPDE at the track. It will completely change your viewpoint of what mods matter :-)

Good point.

However, neither of the Mods I am suggesting will make any track difference.

I think the M pipes look way better than the akra.

Exactly! You need brake ducts, tires, and suspension. Everything else can wait until you've spent all your money on more tires and track time. If you still have money left over, then you need a real race car, and you'll begin to feel a compulsion to trade in your M3 on a F-250 to tow with.

Or stick to mods and never go to the track. It's cheaper.

Ok, looks like the exhaust wins! Now the questions is, do I powder coat the cans black or not. I love the looks of it black, but not sure if inconel really should be coated.

YES! The Alpine White looks great with all the little items black (kidney grill, side grill, M badge, etc.), especially if you have black wheels.

Hey MonteCarloM3,

I know this is not in line with the thread, but was wondering if your VMR 710s are rubbing in any way shape or form? I am close to putting in an order and am debating with such a large wheel. Does 265/30 and 295/30 sound right for the tire size.....
You can PM me if you want or just respond here. Any input is appreciated as I am debating between your size and the smaller 19x9.5 in front and 10s in the back....

Thanks,

Derek

What big brake kit would be recommended?

Brembo or StopTech?

Oh! oops... well I don't know, its pretty hard to see them, depending on the exhaust you're getting. It could be a nice addition, I guess I haven't really seen any pics of it done
