2011 E93 w/ CA Keyfob functioning range limited

I have a 2011 E93 with comfort access.

Only recently that my keyfob doesn't work from a distance, its functioning range has been limited. I have to place it (almost touching) the windshield or side windows to get it to work.

I have replaced the key fob battery, but that did not change anything. The car battery is still factory battery (6 years old).

Does anyone have any experience like this and was able to solve it?

Does the age of my car battery have anything to do with the CAS module (like it lowers its the antenna range bc of lower current from old battery)?

Or the antenna is the problem?

Thanks all in advance!

Do you have tinting ?
Otherwise is the car battery getting weak?
A weak car battery can cause a multitude of problems.
Try putting a long slow charge on it you might
even test the range of the Fob while its charging.

I do have tinted windows, but my key fob was working just fine after I've gotten windows tinted. Only recently that the key fob has been acting up.

I'll try charging my battery up to see what that does and will report back!
Thank you!

Did you ever get around this and figure out why? I am having the same issues, must take key out and place inside ashtray for car to detect it. I used to be able to just leave it my pocket. I am also still on factory battery (10 years).

It’s not the battery or the CAS module. I’ve figured out what’s wrong. Let me ask a few questions before going there.Do you have 2 keys and they both are doing the same? And E93 with comfort access right?

appreciate the reply from you both.

to nate93 - correct, it is 2007 E93 with CA. I brought the car used from private party and only came with 1 key. I am in the process of trying to get a second key through BMW NA.

I have Carly and believe it did show some body related codes in the past, but I just ignored it.

I am happy to provide additional information and thanks in advance for the time.

I too only have 1 CA keyfob, I will code another key myself sometime this weekend. But if both keys are acting the same way , it's very likely to be the FBD module (the remote fob service module) that is inside your interior mirror for E93 convertible.

For that, just replace the interior mirror, check on eBay, they are floating around for about $100. just ordered one for $65, coming in today actually. I will let you know if that fixes our problem.
