New Lights of the F32 > E92
The new F32's, and in general the new BMW's, have the new LED headlights..
To of my knowledge they are a completely new technology... Is there any way my E92 could accomplish the same look? |

Haha figured... Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a simple bulb of some sort.. What about LED fogs.. I have done some research but have been inconclusive with finding pictures that give justice.

What year is your car bud? E90 and E92?
I have a 2011 E93 and I have bright white beautiful LED angel rings You can definitely get LED angels that will work with your car. Lux is a good place to start. There is also HighPerformance Bulbs and if you really want to drop some coin you can do an OSS headlight conversion |

Sorry for the confusion, I am not speaking of the AE's per say (nothing will ever be satisfactory to myself other than the OSS or the LCI headlights). I was more or less talking about the direct headlight beam, rather than the AE. To of my knowledge, the new BMW's use some sort of LED headlight low-beam rather than a D1S bulb? This is what I was looking to change if possible (along with the fogs?). |

Ahhh I see. I'm not familiar with all the HID foglight solutions out there, but for D1S bulbs with a plug and play OEM solution- might I recommend these- courtesy of my good friend Stone:

I hate when headlights are too blue or too white. I can definitely tell the difference between OEM xenons and aftermarket kits HOWEVER I despise how yellow the xenons are on my E92. In fact, I usually forget that they are xenons until I pull up to another vehicle that isn't equipped with them and I notice how dim the halogens are compared to mine. LOL The newer Mercedes-Benz models have fantastic white xenons and that is exactly the color I am trying to achieve. Apparently they are using these new OSRAM 5000k bulbs from the factory now. |

Sure. I'll grab some pics soon. I need to find a good setting and grab a camera. I ordered mine from TheRetrofitSource, for reference. There are fakes out there, so be careful.

Chances are that LED bulb is going to put less usable light onto the road in the right spots than a proper D1S bulb. You've got all the light coming out a single emitter facing one side, as opposed to a D1S bulb which is far more omnidirectional in its light output.
Safety issues will be somewhat reduced since it's ultimately focused through a projector lens with a cutoff, but there's still going to be issues. Namely, I would anticipate severe hot spots in the beam pattern which present a risk to both the operator and oncoming drivers.

Honestly, comparing the new 4 series to the E92, the headlights are the only thing IMO that makes the E92 somewhat dated.
They sure do look beautiful with the LED 4 series headlights. |

LCI E92 headlights suffice for me, very nice led indicators, angel eyes...and the eyebrow ALL Led.
Best of all the shape is very accommodating F32 lights isn't any better than e92 lci...there both part of the same category and if you read more reviews the xenons at this point and time are a little better. If you have an e92 convert the front end to LCI, that's what I did and am very satisfied |

Yes, LED's require less energy, produce significantly less heat, offer tighter packaging, are more reliable, all while offering the same or greater output of a standard HID lighting system, but as it was mentioned before, the cost of swapping in BMW's new lighting technology into your current car is far from worth it.
If you're looking for greater output, upgrade your bulbs/ possibly the ballast if you decide to up the wattage, swap out your projectors, do a clear lens mod, and customize your cutoff shield. That is about the maximum you can do as far as increasing your light output while keeping your light projection clean. stock bmw projectors suck as well as the cutoff. The cutoff isn't crisp and the light projection after being fragmented and altered from the projector is sub-par. If you want to upgrade your projectors, get some from a Japanese car. Preferably a nissan/Infiniti, or an acura/Honda. If you ever get a chance to be behind something like an s2000 or nissan murano at night, notice how their light beams are very even and very wide. When on coming, notice the flickering of their lights. It means their cutoff is excellent. As far as upgrading the fog lights, it think it would be cool to do a retrofit of Prius fogs. |
