Tool that can read max RPMs?

I heard recently that dealers cannot check the max RPM that an engine has reached with their diagnostic tools. Is there an aftermarket tool that can read this info?

About to start helping my dad look for a car. For Porsche, there is a diagnostic tool that reads overrevs (Durametric) - it would be great if there was something similar for our cars.

Thanks,
Dave

Bavarian Technic is the tool most people use. It's made by Durametric. But I don't think it can read the overrev information you want.

Compare the two web sites, and you'll see the similarities.

Thanks RG - I think you're right and the BT tool does not appear to be able to retrieve overrev info.

Thanks,
Dave

When I had my 08 coded the guy was able to see the numbers. Mike Benvo also told me the numbers when he tuned my car.

I've got the BT Tool and it does not show some of that shadow data like max revs. Benvo read those out to me when I got my tune.
